Tennessee @ Florida Game 3 Thread - 1pm

And there will be no change in the pick ‘em leaderboard this week.

Okay, all of y'all who saw this coming after Friday, stand up! Uh-huh.

I was surprised. No way did I think this team capable of getting it back together after blowing that lead and taking this series. My hat is off to 'em. So glad to be wrong.

Trying to keep the mojo going...no way this team wins another game much less the series against the rebs. Nope.

I knew they could do it if they got the pitching back together, but that had been shaky, so I was concerned about that and not ready to predict a series win. Hopefully this is a good sign for the future. GBO.

Oh really? Ole Miss can be had. State demolished them in Oxford this weekend.

Sort like a little reverse psychology there? Hope it works. GBO.

This is a game that cancels out some of the meltdowns we’ve had. It’s one I would normally count as a loss. Certainly didn’t expect to come back going into the 7th. Makes up for one of UF Friday night, Mizzou Sunday, or Arkansas Sunday.

I think we’re in with a series win next weekend. I don’t know how you can keep out a 14-16 SEC record with a top 10-15ish RPI.

One win is a must though. That would put us squarely on the bubble. A win or two at Hoover may be required at that point. 13 by itself may do it though. The RPI is that good.

Last weekend and we’re not talking about squeaking into Hoover.
A sweep makes this a .500 SEC team and a serious regional competitor.

Keeping the mojo of my being wrong going. Believe me...my luck stinks. The last thing you want is me picking UT in anything.
My bad...you're doing the reverse psycho thing. We've all had those moments. Many times I've left the room when Vol teams looking bad on the tube, thinking my presence brought evil spirits.o_O

Go Vols!

Lot of character shown after Friday nights meltdown!

These guys are talented and competitive. It takes some extra “oomph” to change a programs direction. I think these guys have “it”.

Awesome season so far. Good luck vs “bear rebels” or whatever they are!

As bad as it sucks to say it should have been a sweep and would have put us in a better tournament position for sure. It sure is nice to be able to complain about not sweeping a team rather than being swept. I also like the fact that we have taken the series the last 2 trips to Gainesville.

So. UT Baseball hasn't been past the first day of the SEC Tournament and their official account is gonna call fans that still follow them, "haters". I will continue to root for the players despite the idiots they have in their PR department.

This was on the D1 Baseball chat:

Is Tennessee in with one more conference win, totaling 13? If not, should the RPI be scrapped completely since conference record is then the only thing that matters? The Vols could be left out with a top 15 RPI. I don't think that has ever happened before. You guys keep referencing UK from last year, but they had an RPI of 31 and did not stack up using other metrics to the 2019 Vols.

Right, I think one more SEC win for Tennessee will get them in. 13-17 in the SEC should be good enough with a top 10-15 RPI; it is indeed different than UK's case last year and UNC's case from a few years ago, because the RPI is just better.

Tennessee had a big time series win at Florida this weekend, but they aren't out of the woods yet. The Vols currently have an RPI of 10. What's the highest RPI you can recall being left out, or would this take the cake due to the increase of importance placed on conference record?

The last high RPI team I can remember was when North Carolina missed the tournament with an RPI of 23-24 a few years ago. UNC missed the ACC tournament that year, and that was the difference, per the committee. UT will obviously be in the SEC tournament.

It looks like one win this weekend should do it according to the D1 guys. Obviously want as many as we can get, but it looks promising.

The PR guy probably hopped in the game 1 thread and saw what everyone was saying about the team and staff.

1 more win will def do it. I even think they will still get in getting swept by ole miss but that would be very nerve wracking and would be one of the last teams in probably. Resume is too good. Indiana sweep was massive and so was winning the Fresno series.

A valiant impressive late comeback in the rubber game to defeat the damn Gators 5-4.

A impressive showing by the Bright Orange Volunteers after the great choke in game 1 they did rebound winning game 2 8-7, and game 3 5-4 in Florida.
It's tough to win on the road, and it's even tougher to rebound and win 2 consecutive games after not finishing including the other team that came back to win from a high deficit.

I'm just enjoying all of this SEC Tournament and regional talk. Hoover is clinched. Will we make it to a regional? I don't know, but just being in the discussion for one let's me know we're headed in the right direction.

It's great to have the Baseball Volunteers actually be relevant late in the Baseball season including going to Hoover.

I said this is a team that can play beyond a SEC Tournament, and possibly that could happen if the Volunteers play great at the right time with this series as the start of Rock and Roll playing great consistent Baseball when needed.
