WR) MI 4* Donnie Corley
WR) CA 4* Jeff George (JUCO)
TE) DC 4* Devante Brooks

OL) TN 4* Bryce Marthews
OL) TN 4* Ryan Johnson
OL) NC 4* Landon Dickerson
ATH) TN 3* Dillon Mitchell

DT) GA 5* Derrick Brown

DE) GA 4* Chidi Okonya
DE) TN 4* Emmitt Gooden
LB) TN 4* Daniel Bituli
LB) TN 3* Tim Hart
DB) GA 5* Nigel Warrior
DB) TN 4* JoeJuan Williams
DB) NC 4* Marquill Osborne

Total Commits: 20 (Offense:11 & Defense:9).
5*: 4
4*: 13
3*: 3

Final National Rankings: 7th

In this scenario Devante Brooks is a blueshirt prospect & BJ Emmons likely heads to JUCO. Banks & Henderson don't make the final cut. That would be an almost perfect close to the class, but in reality most of those additions are very possible. The biggest long shot on the list would be Derrick Brown. I think he really likes the Vols though and UGA can't sign every 5* DT in the country.

I strongly believe BJ Emmons is a silent commit. The real question is, will he make the grades to get in or have to go the JUCO route?

UT seemingly leads or co-leads with about 10+ elite WR prospects. Kyle Davis, Mecole Hardman, Donnie Corley, Diondre Overton, Binjimen Victor, etc. I'm not sure how it will shake out but TN will end up signing some very good WRs. I think Davis & Corley decides to be Vols. Hardman is likely UGA.

The defense is mostly already set besides Brown & some DB prospects. Gooden wants to be a Vol but also wants all the fame & attention. If there is room on NSD I think he will sign with UT. Nigel Warrior will be a Vol. Butch will not miss on a 5* legacy prospect. His track record speaks for itself. I also believe JoeJuan Williams is a silent commit & will announce at the All-Star games.

Thoughts?

QB) NJ 4* Jarrett Guarantano
RB) NC 4* BJ Emmons
WR) LA 3* Corey Henderson
WR) MI 4* Donnie Corley/Freddie Swain
WR) CA 4* Jeff George (JUCO)
TE) DC 3* Devante Brooks
TE) TN 3* Austin Pope
OL) TN 4* Bryce Marthews
OL) TN 4* Ryan Johnson
OL) NC 4* Landon Dickerson

DT) GA 5* Derrick Brown
DT) KS 5* Alexis Johnson (JUCO)
DE) GA 4* Chidi Okonya
DE) KS 3* Koron Crump (JUCO)
LB) TN 4* Daniel Bituli
LB) TN 3* Tim Hart
DB) GA 5* Nigel Warrior
DB) TN 4* JoeJuan Williams
DB) NC 4* Marquill Osborne
DB) AL 3* TaDarryl Marshall

I put my changes from the OP's post in bold.

I believe Marshall and Henderson have a slight chance of being bumped up to a 4*. If so, that would put us with a class of 3 5*, 13 4*, and 4 3*.

Devante Brooks is a 4* talent, but will not end up as a 4* on any recruiting site on Signing Day because of his history of torn ACL's.

Out of the players listed, I believe Derrick Brown is the least likely to sign with us.

Why are yall leaving off Marshall?

Along with Henderson... Only way Henderson isn't here this time next year is if both Davis and Hardman came here. A lot of people in the UT community are very, very high on Henderson. They feel he's a perfect fit in a spread, up-tempo offense. The kid is super fast, and he can play both outside and in the slot.

Jmo...Marshall gets recruited over and Henderson is an academic casualty. Vaughn is a big time talent but isnt as high on the list as a few others. Were only taking 1 rb as of now, 2 if the class size increases. Were in on alot of elite backs for 2017 including 2 instate kids that could both be 5*. Look for there to be 4 wrs in this class. I look for Brooks to either be a blueshirt(medical) or not in this class at all. Theres no space for 2 tes. The class is 18 in size right now. But with transfers and players leaving for the draft early the class could expand but not at the expense of 2017. And Brown isnt as much of a stretch as people think.

I didn't even know Henderson had academic issues. That blows...

18 is the magic number this year.

Also, if BJ Emmons does in fact go to JUCO, then they will take another RB. They can't afford to not bring in another RB, with only 3 RB on scholarship.

Why is everyone leaving off RBs. We need at least two this year. Depth is crucial at that position in the SEC. I agree with most of it but RBs, WRs and DBs are the biggest needs.

They need 1 and would take 2 elite RBs. But spots are limited, so they can't afford to settle. Options this class are slim on guys that could be productive and who are viable options. How this class plays out will determine the focuses in next year's class where options are aplenty.

WR is the biggest need in the class, followed by securing 2 DTs, and a few OLs to build for the future.

If they can only get 1 big time back, the thinking is they will take just the 1.

Most believe they won't settle, just to take 2.

The '17 class is loaded, with potentially two 5 star backs instate.

This.
With Hurd and Kamara both Juniors in 2016 and basically no one behind them at this point the idea of signing only 1 RB is concerning.
I think HS backs will see Hurd and Kamara tearing it up this year and should be an easy sell with no depth.

Assume we only take 1 back this cycle, BJ Emmons for example. This is our possible depth chart in 2016:

Jr - Jalen Hurd
Jr - Alvin Kamara
So - John Kelly
So - Joe Young
Fr - BJ Emmons

That's not a bad stable of backs.

Back that up with a couple of studs in the '17 class and we're lookin good.

I'll go with
QB: Jarrett Guarantano
RB: Elijah Holyfield
WR: Jeff George
WR: Kyle Davis
WR: Freddie Swain
WR: Tadaryl Marshall
TE: Austin Pope
OL: Bryce Mathews
OL: Ryan Johnson
OL: Landon Dickerson
DE: Chidi Okonya
DE: Koron Krump
DT: Alexsis Johnson
DT: Derrick Brown
LB: Tim Hart
LB: Daniel Bituli
CB: Marquill Osborne
CB: Nigel Knott
S: Nigel Warrior
S: Joejuan Williams

20 commits. Maybe Brooks as a blueshirt and sign and place Emmons.

I'd like to see us pick up a Sylvie and Swain.

Holyfield would be nice, but I don't see it happening.

Otherwise I think this is pretty accurate.

replace a couple of the guys you named with the bolded names and I would consider this a PERFECT class. we'd hit on all our needs. and we'd have talented players up and down the class.

Some of you keep forgetting Kelly and Young. Both will play this year and Kelly will impress early. Sign 1 this year and thats 5 scholarship backs on the roster. Thats plenty when you consider theyd all start elsewhere. If somehow this class hits 22 to 24 then yes take another back. Otherwise were 1 and done this year.

Top 12 class for sure either way.

Possibly. I think our average rating per prospect will be very high this cycle because we're being so selective. Probably a better evaluation of where this class is as far as talent. Last I checked by that measure we sit right behind Bama on Rivals. I don't know how the class will ultimately rank because we're taking 17-18 kids versus everyone's else best 20 kids. We cannot sacrifice any space in 2017 because that's going to be a monster class. Hell I think Butch will have the #1 class in the country in 2017 if this season goes well on the field.

Thought I'd do an updated list since VQ has now said we can take 21 guys in the 2016 class. I only have 19 listed, but I believe we'll also get a DT and CB that we haven't offered/isn't on our radar just yet.
