My wife and I had our first son, Peyton, on the 9th.

I am glad to see that every one is hyped over basketball!

It has been a while!

i have a bottle of mr.daniels chillin. 7-5 sounds about right. could be worse if we lose to cal. maybe 8-4 if we show some improvement on offense.

Expectations are low this year. Tennessee could possibly surprise and win 10 games and every one, in general, will be very happy.

What a difference a bad year makes if Tennessee wins 10 games this coming season. Compared to last year 10 wins would have been a letdown because most expected a SEC Championship and a possible shot at the National Championship.

Now most if not all would crave just to have a SEC Championship.

I'll split the difference with y'all...i say 9 wins....we lose to UF, LSU and UGA, Bama or ARK.

I think 9 wins is probable, I also think 9 wins can win the SEC Eastern division.

It will be an exciting football season for sure. Last year was an aberration in my opinion.

The first game against Cal will set the tone for the season. Win or lose the level of play will give us a taste of what is to come.

I don't think the expectations are low Empire. I think most people expect a vast improvement on offense and 9-10 wins or its adios Phil. I hope we go undefeated and beat Ohio State in the BCS championship game.

The expectations this year compared to last are uncomparable.

As for Ohio State playing in the National Championship game, replacing 8 starters on defense is quite a task.

If you think Ohio State will outscore oponnents that is when Hell freezes over because that is not Tressel ball. The man does not deviate regardless of any situation.

I'm not saying I really believe UT or Ohio will be there. It's just that I hate Ohio. Ohians, and especially Ohio State. If we could rip the hearts out of any fans in America I would want it to be OSU, oops I meant tOSU.

I knew I liked you for some reason.

*On a side note there are really good people in Ohio. The good people are found every where but Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, Columbus, Cleveland, Akron and Canton.

Given all the OHIO license plates I see on the interstate, I had no idea that there were actually still people IN Ohio. Man, that must be a crappy place to be, since everyone seems to want to be somewhere else all the time.

I think 8-4 or 9-3 is reasonable. It all depends on whether last year's funk has been swept away. Can Cut wipe away an etched in mentality? God I hope so.

They're all on their way down here to ATL.

My wife's family goes consistently to Hilton Head. If you have ever been there the comedy act in Harbor Town always says something to the effect, you know studies show about 80% of the people who visit are from Ohio....then 80% of the crowd cheers.

I won't lie, her car has the Hilton Head sticker on the back made especially for Ohioans.

The reason people are so grumpy is because the sun only shines for about 4 months. The overcast and nasty lake effect weather makes is quite uncomfortable.

Hence why a lot of people travel out of state. Heck I thought I would end up living here for the rest of my life but the State Highway Patrol drove me crazy. How do so many people enjoy pulling people over for the rest of their life?

I can't wait to get back to Kentucky! LOL :dance2:

I just like to give OSU fans a hard time because it seems like their are a million of them in Franklin and Spring Hill areas. I first started to notice Big 10 fans at local sports bars after Saturn moved in. IMO the OSU fans just happen to be the most obnoxious.

I will add that there seem to be a lot of Big 10 fans who don't really have a favorite team that they root for through thick and thin. Last year I asw a bunch of people who were decked out in Ohio State garb at the beginning of the season and then they were decked out in Penn State garb by the end of the season. I see the same thing year in and year out. About the only exception is if Minnesota or Wisconsin does really well, I guess those two schools just 'aint hip enough? I just can't imagine ever wearing a UF or UA item.

That is what I'm saying ALL the time, almost word for word. The interstate is full of the Ohio cars. I don't think that anyone in that state has a job. They just travel and drive slow in the left lane.

now that's true. I drove from Memphis to Pittsburgh over Christmas, and i couldn't believe how slow they drive up there....ridiculous....no where to pass, everyone just driving side by side, with no cares in the world!!!!

I will have to tell a funny story about driving side by side with a twist.

On the stretch of I-71 North of Columbus and South of Cleveland two cars were driving side by side on the innerstate doing 35 miles an hour.

The twist was that the car in the left lane had their driver side door open and the car in the right lane had their passenger door open.

Good stuff!

Congratulations Empire. Nice name. I read an article where some defensive lineman that plays for the Titans was at Arizona for a long time. He said when he was there his childs name, Peyton, was a unique name there. But when he moved to Tennessee after being traded to the Titans he realized that his child didn't have a unique name anymore since so many people in Tennessee have decided to pay tribute to the best UT quarterback ever.

I feel the same way about OSU fans. Speaking from personnal experience, my girlfriends mom is an OSU grad and I'm a UT grad. We often argue about which is the best school. Not only does she think OSU is head and shoulders above UT (despite the fact that the US News and World Report college rankings has OSU as 24th and UT as 38th out of 176 public colleges, hardly head and shoulders) she honestly believes that OSU is the greatest university in the nation, the entire nation.
It's like they're in another world, with all of this THE Ohio State University. Well yeah its The Ohio State, just like it could be The Florida State, or the Virginia Tech, c'mon, get over yourselves.
I don't think they stand a chance of winning it all next year. They replace to much on D and just because they have most of their offense back means nothing. The day Tressel wins by out scoring teams (good teams that is) is the same day bammer fans stop blaming Fulmer for their teams cheating.

I think every win on his record was because he outscored the other team. :whistling:

Ahhhh....haaaa someone called me on it. :birgits_giggle:

I will attempt to clarify but maybe not.

Tressel will not deviate from field position and special teams in an attempt to score over 30 points a game because attempting to score 30 points a game via touchdowns can cause turnovers.

Next to punting, Jim Tressel believes the turnover battle is the second most important thing in football.

Ohio State fans are a different breed. I worked at Ohio State for almost 3 years and I had the privilege, I guess, to work with the football team.

The upper echelon elite of Columbus were treated like royalty. I will have to say even though I do not have any interest in Ohio State it was fun being with the team.

I have told this story before but when N.C. State and Marshall visited Ohio Stadium, I never saw such a lack of humanity in my life. It is ok to come into Ohio Stadium and be a fan of the opposing team as long as you roll over and quit, but if you are keeping it close or winning the fans go nuts.
