Tennessee has toughest SEC schedule...

I am thinking as best we go 6-6 plus a bowl game, but it looks more like 4 or 5 wins to me. Just hoping that we have a Defense worth a crap this year.

the schedule at UT is tough every year. It makes it even harder when the main rivals Bama/Gators then Georgia are ranked in the top five. Now Darth has USCjr in the top 15 every year. Won't the VOLS eventually play Manziel? At least there is a playoff system now

Want some interesting perspective on scheduling? Check out "Football is a War Game: The annotated journals of General R. R. Neyland".

According to his journals, Neyland was a huge proponent of spreading out the tough games intermixed with what he called "breathers." He got much flack for scheduling "pansies" between the tough teams, but his basic idea was that he didn't care what others thought.

Yes, it is not only who you play, but when you played them coupled with who you played before and after. Neyland knew that. That is one of the many reasons he is a football legend.

Also, there is a huge difference between schedules in the SEC. From memory, over the past three years UT has played something like 14 ranked teams in the SEC. No other team in the SEC has played more ranked teams than UT during that time period. For comparison, Georgia, over that same time span, has played 8.

Oh! Grow a set, to be the best u have to play and beat the best don't change anything about the schedule. We didn't get respect back when we were winning and everyone loves to hate TN. I remember that idiot Chris Fowler calling all Tennessee Fans TRAILER TRASH. Remember who you are, we are The Tennessee Vols, we have to get back to the mindset that it's us against the world.

Kind of feels like 2010 except this time Oregon, bama and flurda are on the road instead of at home.

And we'll be lucky to finish 6-6.

Wouldn't be surprised if we get our first 8 loss season next year.

If we were ranked and UGA wasn't we would have both played 11. We are the cupcake we wish we were playing instead of ranked teams. That is what has to change.

While I agree with the 1st part of your post, I want to see proof of the part in bold. Fowler never said that.

That is a big if. If we had been ranked and noone else is in the SEC was, we would have played 0 ranked teams and they all would have played one.

Again, I am doing this from memory, but I believe UGA wasn't ranked at least one of those years so that should factor into the calculus as well.

Tennessee ALWAYS has the toughest schedule. We traditionally play 1 ooc powerhouse and we get bammer every year. That`s a good thing imo. I want to be the best,so we gotta beat the best. Recruits can see t4hat they will be in 6 games where they can beat a top 15 opponent and be all over Sportscenter is enticiment to wear Orange. jmho. Go Vols! I would do as Gen Neyland. Always rest your troops after battle. We should play SoCar and UK in Sept. Bama,Auburn,Mizzou in Oct,and Fla,Uga and Vandy in Nov. We used to be a team that got better as the season progressed under Fulmer`s tenure. I certainly believe we would beat UF more often were we to play them later in the season. Go Vols!

Out of curiosity:

Would Tennessee fans be in favor of moving Vandy, Kentucky, or both earlier in the schedule in order to break up the murderers row they generally get from late September to late October?

Not sure it could even work schedule-wise as far as Kentucky goes...most of the the teams UT tends to play in in Oct seem to have a "end of the season, usually same state rival" commitment

Most people thought Florida was a 7-8 win team coming into last season. They had the toughest schedule last season and only lost one game. If they can do it, so can we! Not saying we win 11 games like they did, but no reason we cannot pull an upset or two.

Great point. UF was supposed to be down last year. They went to aTm & UT back to back. They won both and began to believe.

In the West UF played aTm and LSU while UT played Miss State and Bama....pretty close to a draw, IMO.

The schedule is what it is.

They are loaded with 4 & 5* players!

I would rather play Florida 1st...They are slow starters and we have played our best early the last few years!

We always (with the exception of 2001) play UF as the 1st SEC game of the year and UT has lost 8 in a row to UF. Not sure if you were being serious.

I want to believe in Team 117. And I do. If they take every game as it comes, only one game at a time, amazing things could be possible. We have a lot of talent still here and are going to add some talent as well. So since we don't have to play against "our schedule", we only have to play each game as it comes, anything is possible.

New year. New attitude.
