Tennessee has turned into SEC's most dangerous team

I see it the complete opposite. Nobody should want to play UT in the tournament. We've played at Rupp, Duke in Maui, the defending national champions, owned the Gators at the swamp, Fed-Ex Forum, a rowdy Memorial Gym, 2 OT games so were obviously not going to be scared of anyone we play. We play extremely tough, in your face defense, and were on an incredible hot streak. If we sneak in as a 9 or 10 seed, the 1 or 2 seed better watch out or were pulling a major upset. I can't wait to see how this stuff plays out!

His arrival at Knoxville wasn't greeted with fanfare, but that's not Martin's fault. No one short of John Calipari or Rick Pitino would have been universally welcomed after Bruce Pearl's messy departure.

Pearl packed fans in the arena and produced Tennessee's best run on a national stage before running afoul of the NCAA.

Ask Tennessee fans now, and they'd still take the popular Pearl, even with the problems he created.

Um....

going by current projectoin i would love to be in the midwest region right now as the 8 or 9, itd be my first choice. draw either miss st or cal in the first round, and with a win take on missouri. i think a good defensive team can beat missouri JMHO

i guess i should be more worried about actually getting into the tournament before worrying about where i want to be seeded haha...its hard to resist.

No way. We must win the tourney to get in. I wish otherwise, but the early losses to bad teams killed us. Probably NIT bound, but I am happy given the circumstances. I think we have a great coach and a young team that can compete. GBO!

Not if they give us credit for having Stokes. That may play a part if we win out.

This was a team that was picked 11th in the SEC. CCM should be given a ticker tape parade for even being in the NCAA conversation. I think a mid-major who turned the corner like UT might be left out of the tournament, but an SEC team, junkyard dog ballers, with a fairly recent past of some big time upsets, slides in and as other posters have stated, will be the team that no one wants to play. As much as I hate to admit it, KY is another level, not just from every other SEC team but from every other NCAA team. It's their tournament to lose frankly, but I previously stated that UT would be the 2nd best team in the SEC by the end of the season and while their record doesn't reflect it yet, I think, barring significant injury, they are there.

You can't play teams from your conference in the first couple rounds.

But, yeah, I do think an NCAA bid is possible if Tennessee wins 4 or 5 of their last 5 and wins a couple in the SECT. But, there isn't a way that this team isn't a bubble. Being on the right side of the bubble is still the best possible scenario (except for an SECT championship).

i was referring to what teams currently were in that 8/9 game, not necessarily who we'd play i should have worded that differently.

i disagree completely. if we win out, are 18-12(11-5), finish 2nd in sec, and win 2 games in sec t and losing to UK finishing 20-13 this is not a bubble team.

RPI would be in the very low 40's and if it was UF we beat would probably be in the high 30's, we'd be looking at probably a 7 seed.

Man, other than our 2 seed (got robbed from the 1 seed) year, a 7 is about as good as we averaged under Bruce.

I would like to believe it, and I think with 20 wins, I agree we get in. I just think some of our losses early will look bad.

That said, we are a much improved team, I'm talkin night and day different, than than 2 months ago. I just can't wait for the next one. Let's keep it alive.

I hope we make the NCAA Tourn. but I think this team could win the NIT and all the extra games and practices would be great for these guys. I think if we make the NCAA Tourn. we would be a one and done :cray:

We would have to win out to go to the dance. If we do and go to the SEC championship game then watch out. CCM is playing Dr. Frankenstein and the monster he has created will hardly settle for one and done at the dance.

It eems like it's being overlooked that if UT wins out ... they will be the number 3 seed in the SEC Tournament. They will have finished 3rd in the regular season. I believe this gets them in the NCAA!!!

I think so, it's hard to imagine the #3 team in the SEC not getting a bid. Also lets face it, the dance is about money and Ut travels well in the dance so if we win out we will go dancing. GBO

Better to get HOT this time of the season than in SEC tourny! I still wish we could sub a def.. player in for McStache on every play. He just gets beat up.

Best on ball defender of any guard. Amazing that some of you don't see this.

I'm glad to see us get on a hot streak. we need to win out in the regular season and then win at least 2 to get to the tourney though IMO.

Bama had the 2nd best record in the SEC last year and didn't get an invite. Conference records and/or standing have very little influence in the selection committee. They have publicly stated it is not part of their criteria

Yep. But we have a much tougher SEC schedule than Alabama did last year, so if we finish with a gaudy conference record, it's likely to include more quality wins. And whether we lose two of our last three is up to us.

I agree with what your saying. Just pointing out that finishing 3rd won't be what gets them in. It's who they will have to beat to finish 3rd that will get them in. So beating Vandy and finishing 3rd>>>>>>losing to Vandy and finishing 3rd.
