State tourney scoring record fell this evening. Indiana State signee Tyreke Key from Clay COunty scored 54 points tonight.

Key is also 11 points shy of tying Tony Delk a Tennessee record of most points in a season. So I see that record falling this evening.

That was a great game. Wouldn't call it an upset though. East are the defending state champs and ranked 3 in the country according to maxpreps.

I called it an upset because of their records & especially the way Oak Ridge was playing compared to Memphis East since their District tourney's. Oak Ridge had been the better team for a few games.

Knox Catholic beat Whites Creek 56-53 in one Class AA semifinal.

Maplewood defeated Haywood 57-56 in the other Class AA semifinal. Bad call towards end of the game that may have caused Haywood a chance at advancing. I listened to it on the internet. Great game.

Up next is Class A play with Grace Christian-Knoxville vs Clay County. Tip is scheduled for 5:00 PM local time(6:00 PM EST) due to length of last game.

Final game of the night will be Harriman vs Columbia Academy in also Class A play. Tip for that one will probably be pushed back from its original 6:00 local tip time(7:00 PM EST). Probably more like a 6:45 PM local tip(7:45 PM EST).

Delk's record has been broken already in the 1st half of their game. Key has 30 points & 10rbs. at the half.

Tyreke Key(Clay County) who broke the single season state scoring record in this game finished with 34 points, 12rbs., 4ast., & was 10-14 from the FT line.

All State Championship games tomorrow are on TV channel CW. That would be different channels for different providers so check your local guide/listings.

1st game(AAA) is scheduled for 1:00 PM local time(2:00 PM EST). 2nd game(AA) is scheduled for 3:30 PM local time(4:30 PM EST). Final game(A) is scheduled for 6:00 PM local time(7:00 PM EST).

My predictions for the state Championship games are as follows:

Clay County over Harriman in Class A.

Knox Catholic over Maplewood in Class AA.

Memphis East over Southwind in Class AAA.

What a great game! Harriman wins the state. You have to wonder if the Clay Co. coach regrets not letting Key take the potential game-tying shot.
