If you’re from Tennessee and don’t want to play for the Vols then you probably have mental issues and should be locked up

Sometimes as fans we forget that there other factors involved.

Example: My brother was a Mr. Football in our state and had two dozen D1 offers. (This was before Rivals/247/etc., so I cannot say what star he was.)

Boomer Eisiason one on one lunch with the hard press to MD. Stories from OV to ND that would make the Pope blush. Blah blah blah.

He had first class plane tix to Syracuse for an OV and we sat at kitchen table night before he left where he said, "If I go I am going to commit. Their facilities are obscene. I don't was to play at Syracuse."

So he didn't go on the OV.

My point is that academics and ability for mom to drive to every home game and other intangibles mattered more than in state loyalty.

Okay.. nobody in State this cycle is of that caliber in state except Keshawn Lawrence.. MAYBE Omari Thomas. MAYBE Bryson Eason who I think is rated way too low. Aside from that we can get just as good of players from Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Carolinas, DMV, etc (in most cases better players because they’ve played better competition)

An all star team of all the top talent in Tennessee still wouldn’t beat over half of the 7A teams in Georgia.. they’d get run over by the very top ones. Hell IMG would probably beat a lot of the college teams in the state, Vandy included. Stop hyping Tennessee high school football as if it’s great because it’s barely top 15 in the nation. And I’m from and have lived my whole life here

I don’t think the OP was complaining about In- State recruits going elsewhere. I think he was just wanting to know where some were going.

I just want UT to be able to get those Tennessee recruits they want. This year seems to be pretty good. Only a couple I wish were going to Knoxville........

There are a lot of variables in that theory of yours, but somewhere in that statement is some truth......and Pruitt will sew it up, but UT will still miss out of players just like other schools.

I think a kid has every right to go and play where they would like I was wondering how many top notch kids we would miss out on.

I make my daughter (she's 6) and my son (3) sing that back to me when they start crying and whining when I tell them "No, you can't have/do [whatever you want]." It's actually kinda comical to see/hear them do it, but it gets the point across. lol

So far we have missed out on one player that we really went after- Hardy. The coaches for whatever reason thought Grimes was overrated and Turner has grade issues. Tucker didn’t seem all that interested in us. First time in a long time we’ve cleaned house in Memphis, and that’s impressive. Close with Baron and you pretty much locked down things.

The top end of the 2020 Tennessee seniors isn’t as high as other states this year, but the amount of prospects the state is putting out and is evaluated is definitely on the rise. Tennessee has 70+ composite 3 star for the second straight after 60 in 2018 and 50 in 2017.

Absolutely, and every fan that both believes and publicly expresses that should donate an extra ten thousand dollars to the athletic funds at UT each and every year to assist in meeting expectations...... NO EXCUSES....

We missed on Rybka. No idea why we pushed for him in the first place and the way the year played out probably would’ve ended up replacing him anyways. Hardy is the one big in state miss so far.

Rybka I really don’t care. Definitely looks the part but not much else. I would take Grimes over him and I think we dodged a bullet by passing on hjm

Did better than I imagined. Too bad the miss on Hardy. Believe we still got to recruit near or in top 10 nationally to be constantly near or in the top of SEC. it’s just tough, maybe when we get a real QB our record will improve enough to convince the very top guys to come to UT. Do we have a staff with recruiting chops to make it happen? We will see.
