This isnt a white or black thing. Plain and simple, it is the youth programs and quality of the HS coaches.

Yes and no.

Yes- Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvannia, and other states seem to produce alot of D1 prospects that happen to be white.

No- Take a look at every SEC roster and you'll find that black athletes are in the majority. It may or may not be about the innate talent... but it is about something. No need to be intellectually dishonest about it. If race is truly a benign characteristic as Colin Powell said then there's no need to deny objective reality.

I agree though that if Tn had better youth programs and HS competition both their white and black kids would benefit. You would likely see many more D1 prospects. Some of the prospects who now only garner attention from mid-majors or FCS schools would be D1 prospects as well.

If you have ever been to Florida (especially SF), then you will know that ALL THEY DO down there is play football. There is a larger black population there than white. As you move north up both coasts (especially the gulf coast) there are more options in sports to play. Football isnt the only thing going on. Lots of baseball, soccer, golf and tennis.

Is no one going to say it? Sorry if this offends anyone but its the truth, those other states have a higher African-American populations than Tennessee does. Memphis has alot of African-Americans but it is a more basketball oriented city. Georgia is 29% African American and Tennessee is only 16% and on top of that Georgia has about 3,000,000 more people. So for that matter there are more white atheletes too because with 3 million more people you are bound to get a few better players out of that. There are other factors too like the youth programs and maybe even some of the high school coaching is not developing players like they should.

Finally... the truth.
