Barton has stepped up finally. CM was taking the ball out of his pgs hands too much this year. It has changed and the play has picked up. Specifically, hitting the post early and spotting up for inside out 3's has built confidence. We weren't doing that at all early in the year and were really not allowing our pgs to do much of anything. Barton had the ball in his hands more the last 3 games than all year by far, and his game management has been excellent--knowing where to go, slowing down, up tempo, ran pick and roll since we are finally sending him some.
Great to see. Maybe they sat down and figured it out as the communication earlier in the year with pgs wasn't good.

@wesrucker247: #Vols' Antonio Barton: "Coach Martin has had the right blueprint the entire time. It's just that now we're doing what we're coached to do."
Or maybe Barton just found his shot again.
Multiple times during his funk Barton got the ball put in his hands early in the game and had shown nothing during that game.
Barton has done better with game decisions and dictating pace, which in turns gives credit to both Martin and Barton, even though it was later than it should have been, but Barton has had great looks all year and for a month they didn't 'to go in.
This offense is nothing compared to Barton getting 4-5 forced shots at the shot clock. We haven't run picks for him to score or drive all year until the last 3 games. We rarely ran him off 2 screens from the baseline to the wing and do 3-4 times a game recently. We had little inside out game or penetration and kicks and Barton has been able to step into more shots. Sure he missed some, but he has had the ball in his hands more and running the offense more rather than being asked to give it up everytime down. Nobody plays well like that. At least no pg.
Sounds to me like they fixed whatever communication issue there was. Now, DT needs to get the message.
Barton has had open 3's all year, especially on kick and drives and posts up. He's making them now. He was missing them earlier. He's making better PG decisions, he's getting the offense in more, but he's hitting his shots now which is making all the difference.
