It seems to me willingness to shoot is seldom an issue for anyone good enough to be recruited at the P5 level.
You must have missed the Holly Warlick years then because it was a trademark of her teams. The poor kids were scolded so often for taking bad shots, or three pt shots that they simply wouldn't shoot.
Kids have all sorts of confidence issues at various times even without poor coaching.
Andraya Carter didn't want to shoot, and it wasn't because of Holly. She looked like she was literally afraid to shoot the basketball. That was a coaching decision. Jumper was talking about kids unwilling. Very few arrive unwilling to take shots at big moments, especially women that play most of their ball for high schools where they are by far the best player on the team.
I’m not going to argue over one player when I said few. She is certainly a better commentator than shooter though.

I don’t understand what your post means or if even related to what I posted. Carry on.
you said: Very few arrive unwilling to take shots at big moments, especially women that play most of their ball for high schools where they are by far the best player on the team.
I'm saying the ones we brought in have shown they aren't willing to take shots. A gunner should average under 5 minutes played per 3 pt attempt. (Tess had a god average, but played limited minutes) while Lou and Jessie had the same 3 pt shot per minute ratio as our guard/forward Burrell.
I have watched our supposed gunners pass up open looks for way too long, When your primary purpose on a team is to shoot the 3,,,you have to shoot the 3!
Ok, but frankly I’d hardly call two of those you listed gunners. I think you label them because 3 point shooting was where their potential was based. All, and especially two of the three, lack the ability to get separation or shoot over close outs which limits shots per minute. It’s a small issue since all three are limited minute players regardless.
But they were limited bc they didn't take the shot when it was open for them...Last year I sat in the stands in amazement when an open 3 was turned into an unneeded extra pass
Ok, last post on this from me. No matter how often those kids take the shot, they would be limited minute role players on a top twenty team.
So far you have rejected starters like Carter, specialists like Darby, Rennie etc... and entire teams full of players who were terrorized, and had their confidence destroyed by their coach. We could all be right if we had the luxury of ignoring every counterfactual example.
The truth is that psychology is a big part of the game, and it is not at all rare for players to be afraid to shoot. That is one of the key indicators players are in a slump, or have given up on the game, or are afraid for some reason. It happens all the time. I think our 3 pt specialist woes are more attributable to the fact that they just weren't ever very good 3 pt shooters to start with, and that causes tentativeness because they know they can't fill the role they have been given. They were recruiting misses.
Another time you see a tentativeness to shoot is when a team is on it heels. Everyone tenses up and that negative energy spreads. Each person is afraid to be the one to take the shot because so much rides on it. Not everyone has the alpha mentality even at the NCAA level. That is one of the areas Kellie has improved the team the most.
