So if a community has county and city schools…currently you have to live in the city or pay tuition. For people who pay both city and county taxes already, they usually do so because of the school systems. So now you allow someone who doesn’t do that bring their kids into a better school…also who determines who gets in and who is left out in regards to the selection process. Not everyone can attend the best schools
I believe they use a lottery system. You are right, not everyone can attend the best schools. Some folks will be left out. Thats life.

I think this is gonna become legalized HS recruiting. Schools can go find the best players and bring them in without their parents moving or paying tuition

Interesting take I didnt think of but I bet you're right. When I was in school I remember getting kids on our football team who didnt live anywhere near the school and always thought something odd was going on. The football team still sucked so I guess no one cared.

Indeed. Does anyone know how that will work? Will there be a leftover amount of seats available after the kids living in the district are in? Or will kids living in the district of the best schools still be put in a lottery?

Yes. And beyond certain sports it may be left to deciding over demographics and I'm sure that won't cause any issues.

Poll Claiming Nashville Wants Public Transit Admits Oversampling Black, Hispanic Citizens for ‘Greater Insight’

A poll touted by Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell on Wednesday, which claims the majority of the city’s residents want greater investments into public transits, admittedly over-sampled black and Hispanic citizens in a bid to achieve “greater insight” into the city’s mood.

The Imagine Nashville survey claimed that 74 percent of Nashville residents strongly agree with the city spending additional money on public transportation. The pollsters further claimed that 33 percent of respondents cited a lack of public transportation as an issue the city needs to improve.

Seems like a pretty good way to reduce wasted tax revenues. Give the money to the good schools that the public chooses to send their kids to. Let the bad schools that nobody wants to go to shut down.

It would also give an opportunity for families that can’t afford to send their kids to private schools an opportunity to attend those.
