Tennessee - Memphis cancelled

According to one source, the two players who tested positive traveled back to Memphis separate from the rest of the team. While it's unclear which players tested positive, The Commercial Appeal was able to confirm that star freshmen Emoni Bates and Jalen Duren and veteran DeAndre Williams were not among them.
Memphis has unvaccinated players on its roster, a source confirmed, though it's not clear how many. Memphis coach Penny Hardaway said before the season not all his players were vaccinated, adding "probably 90%" were.

Thats interesting. If it was walk ons that just makes Penny look worse.

Cohen is a United States Congressman from the Memphis area.
The KFC box may be a reference to the congressman's previous antics. Last year during a house hearing, Congressman Cohen brought a box of KFC into the hearing where he proceeded to eat chicken during testimony. He was trying to draw attention to witnesses who had declined to testify. He was labeled "Chicken Man."
He didn’t even have enough relational sense to bring Gus Fried Chicken (from West Tn). He generically brought KFC. Steve just isn’t very astute!

Why did Memphis not do testing yesterday and have consideration for the fans ? I found out inside the arena 45 minutes before game !!! Fans have been royally screwed !![/QUOTe
Probaly were.
Don't know for sure...speculation on my part. But if you are unvaccinated suspect you are tested everyday. Vaccinated players are tested if sick. There are significant breakthrough cases currently.

Youre kidding right.
This was Barnes statement after the positive tests.
made this statement after they knew about the postive tests.
"If you have 5 play or forefit is the rule in the SEC, says he likes the rule."
You can listen to the interviews here. TN had no problems playing today.
vs. Memphis

Point is UM didn't have 5 players. The entire team went into COVID-19 protocol because of exposure. Unfortunate situation and terrible timing but to have ignored the positive tests and played would have been criminal.

I am not involved in contact tracing but shouldn't Cohen be in quarantine now ? - It seems a simple connect the dots exercise - he has contact to this player - who had contact with his teammates.

Good question. We'll see if those who make the rules play by the rules. Cohen is just a machine pol, a total dimwit.

How many times have we seen players held out but the rest of the team keeps playing so there’s definitely a credibility issue going on here! Ball up your fists #VolTwitter 🤣🤣🤣

Think you are correct. Should quarantine for three to five days if he was within six feet of a positive COVID-19 patent for 15 minutes.

This just isnt true. Asymptomatic vaxed players dont have to be tested per NCAA regulations. If Penny's 90% is true then I would put money down on them having 5. Memphis chose not to play today because they were going to get run.

If you’re vaccinated aren’t you excluded from protocols of tracing? If that is indeed true are you saying 10+ guys on your roster are unvaccinated?

Bingo…they had the players to play, fact is some of the guys who were gonna miss the game were key players and penny knew he could’ve afford a L.

I understand your point, but the issue is not testing... the issue is exposure to positive COVID-19 patents. That puts you into a controlled environment until cleared. Right?

If vaccinated you only have to return a negative result from a test to clear protocol in the NBA. Russell Westbrook did that to play yesterday.

The why did Rob Lanier's team get to play with five players after his team was flagged with positive tests, per Rick Barnes?

SCAR coach Frank Martin in this article states: "Unless they test positive, players aren’t isolated in the same ways they were a year ago. They work out, practice and gather as a team instead of breaking into smaller pods."
So Memphis couldve rapid tested the whole team found out who tested negative and played.
