Tennessee opens favored over Mississippi State by a large margin (-24.5)

Easy take on Mississippi State. They have a pretty decent offense and have played better than their record indicates. They have scored at least 24 points in every conference game except the Texas game. So even if we hold them to 17 points we would have to score 42 to cover. That isn’t happening imo. I think we can get to 30 this game but 40 is a lot to ask for considering we are only averaging 23ppg. You’re basically asking our offense to score 3 more touchdowns than they have been doing the past 5 games.
3 tough game scores no pushover and scored 31 on #2 UGA at. Athens between the hedges

According to NICO, Tennessee puts it all together this week.

Nico: “Man, still too many missed opportunities out there. We got to put it all together in one of these games. And I believe it’ll be the next game. So, we got to clean up a lot of stuff, a lot of penalties in the first half. And, yeah man, just missed opportunities down the field that we got to connect on. And, yeah, it’s coming, man. I keep telling my guys we got to keep going and it’ll pop eventually.”
I believe it too. 52-13.

They also lost at home to Toledo 41-17.

Under Heupel, and when playing at home, against bottom of the barrel teams like this .... Tennessee has usually taken care of business, and occasionally, even run up the score. I don't think anyone who has actually watched one of their games would try to sell Mississippi State as anything but a wet hot pile of garbage.

There's a reason Vegas and the sports books set the early line at 24.5...it's to entice bettors to take the Ms St side of the bet.
Remember Vegas wants the money being bet to be even or stacked towards the underdog in every game so they don't have to payout.

I did actually. Tennessee hasn't scored over 30 points since that game, but go off I guess.
I assume you mean that they haven't scored over 30 points against another power 5 team since then .... but they also haven't played another power 5 team as bad as Mississippi State either, and it's at home. Mississippi State won't win an SEC game this year. They are easily the worst team in the league.

They won't score as many points as to what the spread is. Too mediocre. Not a top ten or twelve team.
You obviously know little about football and haven't been watching to many other teams. You think this offense is bad go back and watch PSU. Go rewatch Ole Mis vs. Uk. UGA gave up 41 to Bama who scored less than 20 against UT. Who ranked below UT could beat UT? I would take UT over PSU, Tex, and Miami right now for sure.

That's all good and well. Still need to show up and execute. Kentucky had no business being in that game late in the 4th quarter.

Our defense alone puts us in the top 10. We can miss 3 fgs. Drop two touchdowns and stop a scoring drive due to a fumble and STILL win the game by more than 7.

When you can hold every team you played to 20 or less you are a top 10 team.

And the offense will only get better cause it can’t get worse. And as bad as our offense is our RB just set the All Time TD record this far into the season which is honestly amazing.

Yeah i'd have a hard time taking Tennessee and 24 points over any power 5 team.. Give me State and those points. Just start to slow to be comfortable with that many points..

Miss State scored 31 points vs Georgia at Georgia of course UGA had 41.
Nobody except Alabama has scored more than Miss State did on UGA, they have a decent offense a bit young. The most UGA gave up in a win was the 31 to MSU then 20 to Florida & 15 to Texas. So on a given Saturday Miss State can score. I think their young but they did get that 31 on the road at UGA.

From the way most teams have played us, the book on the Vols is play soft zone and make us throw it underneath. Limit the big plays and make us go 75 yards in 13 plays and we'll either turn it over or kill the drive with a big penalty. We've still blown the top off the D a few of times but we either overthrow it or drop it. I'm no coach but if MS State wants to give us those 4 yard throws, motion Sampson to the slot and throw it short to him and Bru and live with their YAK ability. Dylan would house at least one before the nights over! Those 2 can get us the smash plays we need even with short passes.
