Tennessee picked 5th in the East by Media

Harris is going to rack up a ton of yardage this year. Not a Derrick Henry type of year, since Bama will throw so much more. But still, a ton of yards.

I think Sanders will start out the year 3rd string behind Robinson, but he'll get plenty of carries.
I think so too, think the Bama offense will be doing less on the Air Fun-n-Gun and back to Bama style offense thus more yards to be had. Don’t think they will totally go away with the FNG but more ball control is Saban’s happy place. Think two players from the SEC end up at the Heisman ceremony.

I could see it. Barring injury, I think Lawrence, Hurts, and Tua are all but guarantees to be there. There will be another 1 or 2 that get enough votes, and 1 could easily come from the SEC.

LSU RB will be good this year, A&M has a couple guys mentioned early last year, Ga has a couple guys on the watchlist.

Think Swift if healthy has the better chance, McElroy said he would win it last year but I still don’t know if he gets enough touches to get there. Don’t see them unleashing Fromm to get there either but, he proved last year, he can do the numbers. This is best QBR in the last 5 years, only one wasn’t a Heisman finalist.
Kyler Murray 95.4
Tua Tagovailoa 93.1
Jake Fromm 85.1
Dwayne Haskins 84.8

Sounds about right, it’s good motivation though for the team to strive higher. It’s possible to finish the season higher than 5th, but they have to put in the work, never let up and not choke.

At this point, we don’t deserve to be ranked higher than Candy or the safe spacers.

Vandy and Kentucky lost more significant talent than us after last season. We shouldn't lose to either of them as long as we are healthy, and a loss to Shurmur-less Vandy in year two, would probably make Pruitt a dead-man-walking for two more years before being let go, as we won't win enough of the recruiting battles with another 5-7 season to dig ourselves out of the hole moving forward if we don't start handily beating teams like Vandy.

These predictions are nothing but bulletin board material. It's all subjective, it will be settled on the field. GBO!!!!!!!!

The SECE looks extremely mediocre to poor outside of UF & UGA. 2019 may be similar to the 2009 final standings when 3 teams including UT finished with 7 wins. IIRC we came in third that year behind UGA. Not saying we finish that way in 2019 but who knows.

East went 9-5 against the West last year and had 6 teams go to a bowl.

Spot on. Vandy and KY are must wins if UT has any hopes of a decent year.

Sounds about right. Until both of our lines step up significantly, we will likely struggle yet again. As much as it pains me to say, I am just hoping we can somehow find a way to beat Vandy, UK and one of Missouri and South Carolina.

I’m not sure how this is bulletin board material. Looks fairly accurate to me.
Exactly why is it bulletin board material? I have UT 4th in the East at 8-4 behind Mizzou 2 and UF 3. Realistically, they are saying UT will improve, UT has won 2 SEC games in two years and 7th, last the last two years.

Why are you taking it as 5th as disrespectful based on previous seasons? Coming off 2-14, expecting to double that 4-4 is big improvement in my eyes, you wouldn’t be happy with 8-4 4-4? UF and Mizzou based on schedule look like 9-3ish teams, possible 10-2. SC is a 9 win team with a 6-6 schedule. Kentucky won’t win 10 again but will make a bowl at 7-5 or 8-4.

GA
MZ
FL
UT
KY
SC
VD

agree with media on the west
Seems like the players know/feel like they are much better than most fans' expectations. I'm sure they want to prove the naysayers wrong that say they aren't.

Pretty generous pick when you consider the past 2 years and the fact that other than a 2nd team return specialist, the Vols have no players on the All SEC team. I love the optimism on this board but I'm too beat down to believe it until they prove something on the field.

OK. Which teams in your opinion outside of UGA & UF have a realistic shot at a good year? I am not talking about a 7-6 or 8-5 finish but 9 or 10 regular season wins. KY will most likely not see 10 wins or a season like they just had in a very long time. SC will be lucky to win seven with their schedule. MIZZOU has to replace Lock (Maybe I just really hate them and am not giving them credit), UT? 7-5 or 6-6. Vandy? Same as us.

Mizzou wins 8 minimum, I have them at 9

People keep writing vandy. Mason’s defenses have always been good. With their style of play and defense, no one should be expecting Vandy to be a sure win for Tennessee.

That’s kind of my point, naysayers (media or fans) would be picking them the same as they were last year, in last to be considered naysayers. Seems most are picking them to be do better.

At some point UT has to break this losing streak to Vandy. It is definitely not a for sure win but if Pruitt does not win against Vandy this year then we have bigger issues than I thought. Mason's overall record is 24-38. The ceiling for recruiting and overall success is not very high unless you are James Franklin. It appears UT finally has a staff that can recruit and develop players to get us over that hump of losing to the commonwhores.
