Has Sutton returned a single punt this year? It seems to be a fair catch party.
]It sounds crazy, but it's because the closer our defense is to midfield, the better they play. Thats where they force the majority of punts, so he never has that much room to work with.[/B]
It isn't Cam's fault the 10 guys in front of him can't block the opposing punt team. Have you paid any attention to the number of defenders in his face when he caught those fair catch punts???
Not sure who your question is directed to but you're right it doesn't appear that Cam has had much of a chance. I don't think anyone is really complaining about Cam just making observations. Personally I'm happy with a solid fair catch from a punt returner. My concern with Cam as a punt returner is benefit vs risk. Jacob can do just as good and we don't risk losing our best defensive player.
What about vic wharton is he hurt or something cause thats why i thought we brought him in really was for the return game. We heard about him all camp just thought we would see him back there
Sutton's fair catches so far this season have been at the 18, 22, 26, 30 x 2, 35, 38 x 2.
It's possible but seemingly doubtful that CBJ instructed Sutton to just catch the ball in the first two games since a few extra yards wasn't to important in those games. The way tacklers are diving at knees these days I would rather not risk injury to our best cornerback.
I would like someone other than Devrin return some kicks.
