Tennessee Soccer 2016 Season Thread

The coaches were the ones that voted to expand it to 10 when the conference expanded. I wouldn't expect it to change.

I can see why coaches would vote for 10--as it means more coaches can claim the achievement of getting in the tourney. But if you're going to have 10 teams in the tourney, every team should have a fair chance to win it--and that's not the case for the winners of game 1 and 2 as they'd have to win 4 games in 6 days. That's absurd--I'm pretty sure a lower-seeded team has never won the 10-team tourney. I mean, even playing 3 games in a week is exhausting. Four is beyond the pale.

The Southern Conference has 10 teams--but their tournament is over two weeks! The ACC has an 8-team tourney--but their quarterfinal games start on a Sunday and then the winners have 4 full days off before their semifinal matches on Friday. You give the teams some rest.

We just finished playing a pretty gutsy first half against Auburn--but Pensky hasn't subbed much and our starters our going to be very tired with 20 minutes to go in the game. That's when you give up goals--and that's what happened to us last week when we played Auburn; they scored two goals in the last 10 minutes of game. But I like the moxie we're showing today. We need more depth of talent so that starters can get a little more rest. Go Vols.
