Great, not elite. Tell me what they’ve accomplished that makes them elite.

Well they were part of a staff last year that won the SEC regular season and tournament championship. Karlyn won SEC freshman of the year and Payton won her Pitcher of the year award multiple times in her last conference. I could honestly keep going with all of their weekly awards but i’ll stop there. You get the point

What I liked about Karlyn tonight was she wanted to finish the game no matter how many innings it went. A side of her we didn’t see last year and the competitor came out tonight.

4-0 and 0-4 went to extra innings for a 2-1 win. SEC is a pretty deep this year

Very pleased with the resilience that everyone showed yesterday. I think we saw a different KP than last year, especially after a rocky first inning we could’ve seen something different the rest of the game. This might have just been me, but I feel everytime we come down to SC & play them it never goes well for us especially granted that their pitching it still good this year. I think the offense had an off night & a lot of players were taking pitches over the white part of the plate early on and not capitalizing even late in the game. I don’t expect the same type of showing from them today, even with vawter on the mound.

I'm sticking with elite cause her numbers are elite and certainly in the top five pitchers in the country. When you are in that kind of company you are elite. I have no doubt anymore that Pickens is super elite in WCSB.

She had to adjust to the strike zone yesterday. She was not getting the same zone as the SC pitchers. Could have easily gotten frustrated but she pitched through it. That’s maturity from last year.

Absolutely, she was frustrated but didn’t let it get to her. Got stronger as the game went on and that’s the sign as you said of maturity.

That ump couldn’t wait to call her out

Terrible Umpires not SEC quality. Should be umpiring High School Games. Look at the lazy home plate umpire. Stayed there to watch the play and didn’t move to get into position. Completely missed the call safe from any angle. That’s why we have replay for terrible and lazy umpires.

What about they play before, when the field umpire initiates the review to see if Panel left early at second base. That umpire was right there watching that play and she initiates the review. If she needs to call a review on a runner leaving early, no reason being out there if you can’t see that. That’s a coaches decision not an umpires. The game was too fast for those umpires.

If Pickens is not viewed as elite now, I think she will be before her career is over at Tennessee. The difference between freshman and sophomore years is impressive - that can't be denied. I consider Ashley Rogers to be an elite pitcher, and Pickens looks to be as good as Ashley in time.
