Congratulations to Coach Karen Weekly for back to back softball regular season championships.

It's a great success story! One to be celebrated, no doubt. But it feels bigger than just winning. It feels like a breakthrough.

If you have followed SEC Softball since the beginning you understand.

A list of SEC regular season champions and their number of championships follows:

Florida 9
Alabama 6
LSU 5
Tennessee 3
Georgia 2
Arkansas 2
South Carolina 1

Notice that the top three schools are in the deep South and have obviously benefited from warmer spring weather. Over the years those schools have dominated the league ( yes, in some cases bullied the other schools). Perhaps NIL and the transfer portal have leveled the playing field. Time will tell. But with the conference blue bloods struggling albeit probably transitory, Tennessee Softball has an opportunity to become the conference standard. Hopefully, we can continue this incredible run.

Pannell has had herself a series. Most of the girls have had a great approach to the plate.

They have smacked the ball around really good today, just got some unfortunate breaks and hit it right at a fielder otherwise this would be a run-rule game.

Kentucky outfielders have kept this game close .....but for them this could have been a run rule game.

vs LSU 19 LOB
vs Alabama 13 LOB

This is why UT has struggles since the Georgia weekend. Too many wasted chances. 90 runners left on base.

He is having to reach to be negative today. When you sweep a series makes it difficult for him. Besides how many runs you win by does not get you any extra brownie points. Its just the wins that count.
