Tennessee still projected in the tourney

Anyone who isn't expecting at least one more loss to a bad team we shouldnt lose to is kidding themselves. This pattern happens every year. We wont make the tournament.

I hope Tennessee goes to the Big Dance but I'm prepared to be disappointed once again.

Oh no doubt, and I'm not trying to say otherwise. I posted for 2 reasons...1. it's the most updated bracket and some people enjoy looking at them and 2. To show evidence that the sky isn't falling after the A&M loss.

Lose a couple more like that and yea we are in trouble, but right now our resume even with 2 bad losses is still tourney quality.

Yes, the resume still gets you in by the skin of your teeth. But, at this point in the season, that may qualify as the sky is falling.

Really hard to see how this team makes it through the SEC without at least 6 more losses. That gets you 11-7 which puts you battling Arky, LSU, maybe Ole Miss, maybe even A&M for a fourth SEC bid. Thank goodness they pounded LSU. That should preclude them if it comes to a tie-breaker.

Is it me or is it really hard to watch Tennessee basketball right now... Unbelievable talent and will lose 6-8 bad games every season to make sure we are out of the Tourney! We have already lost 4 bad games and just hit SEC play. I honestly do not understand how Martin still has a job. This is Tennessee! As a Vol 4 life, I will support my team no matter what but how can we put everything into a team that doesn't put everything to be the best? Martin should have been fired after last years embarrassment and yet still has a job! The guy shows year in and year out that he cant coach and has NO idea how to beat bad teams! Good teams beat bad teams period. As an AD myself, I am begging for a change and am very confused on why this guy is still the coach. Can someone please explain this reasoning? I know Hart didn't hire him but can't he fire him?... I LOVE this school but it's so tough to watch a team beat Virginia by 35 and LSU by 15 away and then lose to Texas A&M, Xavier, NC State and UTEP. When can Tennessee become Tennessee again and how long will it take to make a coaching change?

The problem with firing a guy after his second year, is what coach worth a flip is going to want to coach at a place with that short of a leash?

I think we keep him for one more year to get his buyout cut in half, then he takes an assistant job with Painter at Purdue.

We won't make the tournament, and even if we did, we'd probably get put out in the first round. This is an extremely talented, but inconsistent Tennessee basketball team. We don't take care of business against the teams we're supposed to beat. Been that way ever since Martin's first year on the job. He's an average coach, who lacks in player development and player utilization. Might I also add, that he seems to lack any sense of offensive philosophy all together. I don't expect him to survive after this season.

This probably is the most likely scenario, but if he does get fired, CCM really should try to find a job with someone outside the Purdue system. Expanding his horizons and learning something besides motion offense and "guard harder" should be his goal, if he ever wants another D1 head coaching job.

So we as a fan base are supposed to watch this awful basketball just to cut his buyout? How can someone get hired to coach a basketball team in the SEC that CAN'T coach? Tennessee is one of the biggest Athletic Programs in the Country yet we consistently produce an average basketball team. Watching Saturdays game was sickening as I feel we are 20-25 points better than A&M. Losing to bad teams CAN'T happen and watching this year in and year out gets old. How as the AD of Tennessee do you not get the same feeling that an average fan does? This program is embarrassing! We have already lost to 4 bad teams and it's not even the middle of January!

I'm sorry but this is just stupid. Before the start of the season, in no way did I think we would be having this discussion at all, especially this early into the season. I thought we'd be talking about what seed we be not if we are on the bubble. I supported CCM as long as I could but I don't want this trend every single year. I like the recruits we are getting in next year, but if we are struggling this season with a couple all SEC players I can't imagine next year...I'm just not as excited about basketball and that's crazy because Tennessee Basketball comes before, football, NBA, NFL, everything for me. I like CCM as a person but I really won't even be disappointed if we don't make the tourney this year if that means we can start over and get a change of scenery.

This is Martin's 3rd year. I wouldn't call getting fired after 3 seasons and no tournament appearances a very short leash at all.

I'm not sure what to think. Part of me says, we won 4/5, continue that trend through SEC play and we finish around 13-5.

Another part of me is like you and thinks there's probably more WTF games ahead of us.

Only time will tell though.

No, that was some obscure bracketologist no one else had heard of that bleed found somewhere that was the best in the business. lol I remember.
