I think it’s counterproductive for UT. It may be annoying to give the defense some extra rest after a quick score, but it’s not a big deal. Teams getting free TOs and slowing UT down undercuts one of UT’s main offensive strategies. And opponents at least have the possibility of somebody actually being hurt, while it’s very clear that the OL are not. On top of that, Heupel loses some credibility with the refs. It all seems a high price to pay for a couple minutes’ rest. It's a bad look. Tennessee likes to whine about other teams doing it, but then does at every damn time.
Or.....
If other teams get to do it, why shouldn't Tennessee.
I go back and forth all game.

Yep. Really doesn’t break offensive momentum or tempo on offense. Literally just gives the defense a little extra rest. It’s the equivalent of having your cake and eating it too. You can’t have a quick strike offense and rest your defense they say. How? We aren't stopping the other team during a drive. It's literally just extra time between possessions.
