Tennessee sure does get a lot of linemen injured on extra points...

It's a bad look. Tennessee likes to whine about other teams doing it, but then does at every damn time.

Or.....

If other teams get to do it, why shouldn't Tennessee.

I go back and forth all game.
When it first started happening UT complained about it to the SEC and NCAA. Both groups told them, sorry, can’t do anything about it. So Heup basically said, we tried, they ignored us, so we’re going to take advantage of it until they change it

I'm surprised there aren't more injuries. The way the linemen overlap their legs to close gaps is concerning. all it takes is one of our own guys to lose his balance and fall over a teammates' leg and injure a knee...

Not to rest the defense, they don't need it, just Josh messing with NCAA and SEC.

I've never thought it was to give the defense a couple more minutes to rest. I was starting to get upset with the number of injuries, but I guess all the players normally do return to the game

I think it’s counterproductive for UT. It may be annoying to give the defense some extra rest after a quick score, but it’s not a big deal. Teams getting free TOs and slowing UT down undercuts one of UT’s main offensive strategies. And opponents at least have the possibility of somebody actually being hurt, while it’s very clear that the OL are not. On top of that, Heupel loses some credibility with the refs. It all seems a high price to pay for a couple minutes’ rest.
Heupel has credibility with the refs? Who knew!

I hope he keeps it up - we need another Tennessee rule.

Reminds me of Ray Mears calling for a shot clock rule but continuing to play slow ball whenever it helped UT until shot click rule was implemented

With the progress of the young ones and with the legit dept
of the DL, i really don't think our defense gets that tired. Our
depth has definitely improved game to game.

I sat by the guy who cooks BBQ for the vol club events during the South Carolina game..

He said watch this- if we score quick we get hurt on extra points for rest… it’s by design from Heupel… I laughed… we did it three times that game.

Flopping after a touchdown is a little different than flopping during a drive. I think that during a drive, teams stay on the field, no subs, no consultations with coaches and play starts as soon as the gurney takes "said flopper" to injury tent. Just make is so it doesn't have the advantages of a free time out and it will stop.

I think he’s hurting the effort to get fake injuries out of the game, and that hurts UT more than most.

The shame in flopping is gone, and it's part of the game now. And until they put some disincentives to flop in the rules, it's going to stay around.

I would argue that the night that Lane Kiffen got hit with the golf ball and we threw mustard bottles - that game we would have won if not for Ole Miss's flops. Of course that can never be proven, but it did take us out of the "up tempo", gave Ole Miss numerous unofficial time outs, let them adjust, and most importantly, they got the W and we got the L. Yes, it comes to doing what you have to do to win, and even though it's slimy, it worked. Would you rather have the L and play "ethically", or get the "W" and play slimy. That's what it has come to.

If I'm an Ole Miss fan, on Monday morning after that game, the flops aren't even on my radar, but the W sure as hell is.

That appears to be the biggest bitch the Knoxville media “know it alls” have about Heupel.

Which means they ain’t got anything significant to bitch about.

I am growing tired of the folks taking flop breaks and offenses waiting before subbing and defenses going off real slow to run out the clock. All substitutions need to be done by a certain time. Anytime a team gets going in tempo players start flopping left and right. It’s BS. Offense should have to make sub transition early in the clock and give the defense plenty of time to switch out. GBO

OK, here's a big conspiracy theory. The TV networks get advertising during a flop, plus the allocated time outs. Why put in a rule to stop that? Connect the dots and follow the money!!
