Stanford Steve on the David Pollack podcast had some complimentary things to say about Tennessee and Dylan Sampson and the fact that Knoxville isn't that different from Ohio being cold. It starts at about 38:40 or so. I couldn't believe I heard it from them. Just sharing.

Actually, I give Tennessee a good shot, IF they get with it from jump. Edge at QB, RB, Dline (depth wise) and Corner.
I don’t think I’d say we have the edge at QB, although Howard isn’t great. OSU has 2 great backs as opposed to our one. I’d say across the board they are better offensively.

At the beginning of the season I kept being annoyed by the lack of spotlight this team or any UT team for that matter has. After a while my mindset changed to ……let them overlook us.
Let us be the team that nobody cares much about.
Nothing would make me happier than to A) Win and B) just blast the national media for never giving us a chance after the fact. If you didn’t ride with us till now, we don’t need ya! Cary OSU’s water for them

Really? You'd think they would have scored more than 10 points versus a very average Michigan team...........at home.

Nico is better than Howard. That's what I think. That's all I said. Of course Osu has the edge on talent, but they also had a big edge on Michigan. Sorry I did sat edge at RB, and really, with Sampson and the emerging backups, it's pretty close. OLine is my worry.

OSU is worried about their O-line too.

Historically Columbus is about 9-10 degrees colder than Knoxville in mid December.

Dec 21......

Average high 40
Average low 26

I lived in Knoxville for 7 years... I've lived in Columbus now for 14. Columbus is only slightly colder than Knoxville in the winter... and since I moved here in 2010, we've never had more than 2 inches of snowfall in one storm. I'd also point out that Howard Dwight Smith was a great architect (and oddly the grandfather of actress Beverly D'Angelo), but most of his experience was in building academic and office buildings. Ohio Stadium has design flaws that make it less loud than any stadium in the SEC.

The kind of cold they're likely to see this time of the year isn't cold. As a player, I always liked it to be cold. You generate your own heat and can be pretty comfortable. One playoff game years ago, we played a team from central NC. We wore cutoff shirts and refused to use heaters.... in a driving snow storm with 20 degree temps. We beat them pretty bad in part because they let themselves be psyched out.

We tend to struggle on the road for what it is worth but I think Tennessee could beat Ohio State (or Penn State).

Issue will be traveling to Oregon. I don't think Tennessee can win that one.

Henderson and Judkins are very good backs, but they can’t both carry the ball at the same time. Sampson had far outproduced both against stiffer comp. Advantage UT everywhere on offense except receiver. They are banged up on the offensive line.
