Tennessee Titans sue Lane Kiffin

Fisher was just on the Dan Patrick show. Had nothing nice to say about USC's head coach and called it ridiculous to think the lawsuit has anything to do with the University of Tennessee. Compared situation to UCLA's head coach calling him about Chow.

Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher joined the show to talk about the team suing USC head coach Lane Kiffin for inappropriately hiring former Titans running backs coach Kennedy Pola.

Fisher explained why he was upset with Kiffin. "There's a protocol," Fisher said. "There's a courtesy call. ... It happens all the time. In this particular case, it didn't happen."

Fisher said that Pola informed him he was leaving for USC, and then about a half hour later got a call from Kiffin.

Dan asked Fisher why he didn't demand Pola honor his contract. Fisher said he wouldn't keep a coach who wants to go elsewhere three weeks before a preseason game.

Dan brought up Kiffin's allegations that this is about location. People in Tennessee are upset about Kiffin leaving Knoxville and the Titans are doing this to satisfy the fan base. "I think that's absolutely ridiculous," Fisher said.

Fisher also talked about Vince Young's offseason controversy. "I was proud of the way he handled it in front of his teammates," Fisher said.

Fisher said it's been a rough offseason -- Pola and Kiffin, V.Y.'s trouble, Chris Johnson's contract issues, floods in Tennessee and more.

It is dumb to think there's any connection between the Titans and the University of Tennessee. Or even the Titans the State of Tennessee, for that matter.

Carpetbaggers.

I think that covers it.

But, what about Darfur? Nashville would really give it a run for the money.

According to these quotes from Kiffin from GVX article, he seems to think he has smoothed everything out with Fisher. Of course Kiffin is in denial that he ever does anything wrong.

Kiffin claims he left a message for Fisher within the usual time frame of such a request, and says he smoothed over the dispute with the USC alumnus in recent days.

“When Jeff said that, I did take it personal,” Kiffin said. “Not just because he’s an SC guy, but he’s Jeff Fisher, and I have a lot of respect for him. I’m confident that after talking to Jeff ... that he feels differently about that now. I don’t know if he can come out and say it after what has gone on.”

I just wonder what Dad Monte thinks of the whole thing. Monte spent enough time in the Pros to know how things are done, and how they are not done. He probably has friends at each franchise. I wonder if he knew Lane was working on this deal or if he was surprised by it. I just can't imagine him not sitting down at some point and saying "Son, this just isn't a good idea".

Monte's kid respects NO ONE, listens to NO ONE, and cares about NO ONE but himself. His absentee/great defensive coach father is only in the picture to give the illusion of credibility.

I take it this is going towards that the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, SanDiego Chargers, Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Houston Texans would all be considered very bad teams under this logic?

I could not call all of them 'very bad' but certainly pedestrian. I have to laugh at this topic in that my area Tampa would then have an excellent Hockey Team winning Lord Stanley's Cup a few years ago (between rounds of golf rather than the normal ice fishing) and the Buccaneers having won the Super Bowl would not ever be on your list with this thinking when in reality they both are usually very poor year in and year out.

Probably this is a topic not unlike religion and politics.

really I see a lot of people blaming Kiffy, but the fruit does nto fall far form the tree. Monte must be pretty worthless as well in his personal life. I know Warren Sapp has alluded to the fact it was not a great loss to the Bucs when he left for Tennessee.

I thought more of Monte, than Lane when they came here, and still thought better of Monte than Lane when they left, but Lane's really a piece of work

Dont get me wrong,, I thought he was a master when he was at Tampa but then the Sapp comment came out after he had left for UTK. I feel that he is a lot like his son or rather his son is a lot like him. Of course in 20/20 hindsight.
