Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

No. Rock hill is an hour and a half out from me. Doubt they’re related
Ahh...ok, just wondered. I figured that two kids with that kind of size and the same (relatively uncommon) last name might have some sort of relation, but I also didn’t realize Roebuck and Rock Hill were that far apart, either. That kind of surprises me.

Rock Hill is part of the Charlotte metro area. Roebuck is in spartanburg, which is part of the Greenville-Spartanburg metro area. They’re connected along I-85, but that makes traveling there worse because of the famed 85 traffic jams. If you left at 3am then you could maybe get to rock hill in 45-hour. I just haven’t been able to during the daylight hours lol

Your criticism of Barnes is quite curious.....this kid was committed to Michigan State and Barnes wouldn’t offer while he was committed to Izzo. Maybe do a little research before accusing Barnes of being lazy.
Research? Context? Actual facts? Booooooo.....nobody got any time for those things.

50% from 2 and 33% from 3 being "the same" also assumes you take a certain amount of shots from each of those ranges.

If you take 30 threes in a game and make a third of those, that's 30 points. But if you only take 20 in a game, a third of those equals 18 points.

Tennessee averaged 37.3 points a game from their 2pt FGs last season (49.6% from 2) and averaged 19.8 points a game from their 3pt FGs (33.1% from 3). That's 57.1 points a game before you get to FTs.

Auburn shot 53.1% from 2 and 32.6% from 3 last season. They averaged 34.5 points from their 2pt FGs and 27.2 points a game from their 3pt FGs. That's 61.7 points a game before you get to FTs.

The difference? Auburn averaged almost 17.3 made 2s a game and just over 9 made 3s a game. Vols averaged nearly 19 made 2s a game and about 6.5 made threes a game.

Number of shot attempts does nothing to change points per possession which is the basis of those percentages being "the same" when it comes to shooting percentages. If you can shoot 35% on every quality 3pt look AND you were able to get a quality 3pt look every possession then you should shoot a 3pt shot every possession. Not to mention offensive rebounding numbers improve on 3pt shot attempts due to longer rebounds. You also lose a little in transition defense because long rebounds will cause a slight uptick in the opponents ability to get in transition. Anyway all that is a tangent, sorry. The question of percentages is really only applicable in a points per possession basis.

Apologies then...you seemed to genuinely be of the mindset that multiple (“y’all”) posters here didn’t want him because he’s a 3 star, and I was simply pointing out that wasn’t the case.
Lol no, I'm just glad to be on a recruit early. It's not often that Upstate South Carolina has a kid that Tennessee is interested in, especially from my high school and he seems like the type of kid Barnes fawns over. The last one was PJ Hall, but he went to Clemson. Hope Clowney chooses Tennessee.

In the linked article Clowney said he was looking for a “fast paced offense”. I don’t consider CRB’s system as fast paced. Just a quote from an article and may not be as important as was presented?

Chandler probably changes that. I remember Barnes wanting Bone to push the ball. I think that TN would have preferred to be more wide open last year, but defending that and forcing TN’s offense into the half court was the scouting report on how to defend TN. Last year there wasn’t a PG that would speed up the pace… getting the ball across mid court was rarely easy. Springer could have maybe solved that had there been off season workouts.

Don’t forget Emoni Bates. It’ll be #1.
I know you’re kind of kidding, but What’s pretty insane is that even with those 5, in a perfect universe obviously, we still would only be 3rd (based on the last 3-4 years of rankings). 5th..maybe 4th if we landed Wallace Miller Okpara and Edwards. And may be all the space we have anyway

I went to college in Laurinburg, North Carolina which is in that metro area and not very far from the South Carolina state line and Rock Hill.
