Tennessee Vols Man-cave

My Vol Man Cave is under construction...hope to open for The Third Saturday In October match-up on October 21, 2017. I am actually building this TN Man Cave as a Model (1 of 5) types of Tornado Safe Room Models that are being built by structurally connecting/anchoring Shipping Containers (TN Engineers Stamp on Plans). The (5) types of Safe Rooms are a Kitchenette/Break Room, Lounge/Conference Room, Rest Rooms, Storage/Supplies Room & my Vols Man Cave. These Tornado Safe Rooms are being constructed using materials/components that have been tested @ Texas Tech University to withstand an EF-5 Tornado (250 mph wind) & 15 lb "missile" (2"x4") hurled at 100 mph.

My TN Man Cave will be 20' x 33' and will have a Wet Bar, Pool Table, Poker Table, Display Cases, a T couch with a High Bar behind with T Bar Stools. The ceiling will be painted to mirror Neyland, complete with Checkerboard End Zones. There will be a 14'w x 7' h Mural of a full Checker Boarded Neyland. Floor will be Orange Stained Concrete. There will be (3) Flat Screens Samsung QLEDs (75" & 2-65"), all topped off with a Beer Froster that will chill approximately 150 beers to just above freezing (24 degrees).

Located off my office, this Safe Room/Man Cave will be open for anyone interested to see. My Sons & I own a Construction Company and, in the near future, plan to start marketing similar Man Room/Tornado Safe Rooms throughout the Country.

I know I speak for everyone here when I say, We need to see a pic of this now! :)

I will begin posting progress photos within the next few days.

The shipping containers are set/anchored and the roof is dried-in. Interior walls are being framed and MPE rough-in is on-going. Will begin the exterior skin in about 10 days, with a variety of materials including brick veneer, split-face block veneer & Hardie Board Siding....want to show options on the Safe Room Models. Should have drywall finished and begin floor coatings by 10-3. With Shields-Watkings Field painted on the ceiling, I have decided to apply a PMS Cool Gray 11 Epoxy w/PMS 151 border on the floor. Could not find an orange stain that I felt would match the checkerboard End Zones on the ceiling.

I am hoping the Vols Safe Room/Man Cave (and all the Safe Room Models) will be very cool!

My wife and I are moving to Knoxville (as I have put in some of my previous posts) and one of our bedrooms will be a man-cave/guest room. I am definitely wanting to put a ton of Vol stuff in it and I am thinking I will paint the walls the smokey gray color (or a shade of it at least). But what else from there? Any suggestions on how to make it awesome without breaking the bank?

I would love a huge (like 5 foot wide) panoramic of Neyland Stadium but I don't want to spend a ton of money for it. And I definitely want an "I will give me all for Tennessee" sign to put over the door.

My suggestion... Once it's finished, please invite Bama/Florida/UGA/Vandy fan friends to stay a week at a time in their guest room.

Progress Photos of our Vols Man Cave/Safe Zone along with the other (4) types of Tornado Safe Zone Models we are building. Shipping Containers are structurally connected to create the 20' x 30' Vols Man Cave. At this point you will have to imagine the following:
-Shields-Watkins Field painted on ceiling w/checker board end zones.
-Floor will be painted Smokey Grey with PMS 151 border.
-Will be an approximate 8' Wet Bar on one side with bevel-edge mirrors behind it.
-One end wall will have Beer Froster and a 7' tall Power T boxed out from wall about 4".
-Other end wall will have a Dart Board & Pool Cue Rack (Orange T on rack)
-Side wall opposite from Wet Bar will have a 14' x 7' Mural of full Checkered Neyland.
-Will have a Pool Table w/black felt & orange Power T between bar & Neyland Mural.
-Will be a black couch in front of a High Bar facing SE corner (Orange power T on couch)
-Behind couch will be a high bar w/built-in phone charging stations.
-Bar Stools at main bar & high bar will be Vols Colors.
-Corner will have a 75" & (2) 65" QLED 4K Samsung TVs.
-On South wall between TV & Neyland Mural will be a Display Case for a small Vols Collection.
-Will be a Poker Table between end of bar & Beer Froster.
-All lighting (except TN Vols light over pool table) will be LED w/dimming capability.
-Entry doors from my office and from Exterior @ NE corner of Man Cave will have Card Readers for access.
-Doors will be FEMA 361 approved, including Hardware/Locking System.

More progress photos to come.

The photos attached below should explain where my Vols Man Cave is located. I am showing where the main features will be located on the walls/floor inside the Man Cave. Also included is my rough drawing of how the ceiling will be painted. The MPE rough-in will be complete by next Tuesday & we will start hanging impact resistant drywall. Still hoping to watch our Vols kick Bammer's Arse on "The Third Saturday In October":dance2:.
Will update in a few days.

Did you ever figure out the flooring? If you wanted to do the checkerboard, you could always use orange and white carpet squares or tiles.

The photos attached above are a couple of weeks old. The field of the floor is painted Smokey Gray, with a PMS 151 Orange border. The ceiling will be a reduced mirror image of Shields Watkins Field, checkerboard endzones, hash marks & Power T @ mid-field.

I have more recent progress photos, which i will try to post later today or tomorrow.

To me the coolest part of the project is the fact that this space is engineered/built to withstand an EF-5 Tornado!

I will def be watching games at your house next year.
But, first, a few questions:
Will it be wheelchair accessible?
Stocked with Ensure and saltine crackers?
Will you have plenty of catheters & colostomy bags?

LOL! Good and pertinent questions!
-Yes, it is ADA accessible.
-I can add a few cans of Ensure in the Beer froster.
-Crackers will be a staple.
-I have a few Doc Friends but doubt they will want to deal with catheters or colostomy devices, while watching our Vols kick arse.

SOON!

I understand.
I can bring my own catheters and colostomy devices.
Do you also happen to know any beautiful blonde licensed nurses with 44 Double D’s That might help me with my medical needs?

I’m a lot of fun to watch a game with.
I don’t Woo during Rocky Top.
I only Woo when taking out the catheter.

My old man cave had

We are going to have our pool table, dart board, media room with a 52" TV

I will post pictures when i finish.

52"? Skip some of the peripherals and go to a SERIOUS TV. Nothing short of 80" (I'm so jealous!) Mine is 60" ultra high def... the Olympics sold me! Thanks NBC for the full ultra high def broadcast.

Oh, Go Big Orange!

Pictures of my almost finished Vols Man Cave Model built from Shipping Containers and to withstand an EF-5 Tornado (250 mph winds).

Although Bammer kicked out butts, there will be brighter days ahead.....Soon!

That's awesome. I noticed the ceiling is a pretty nice touch too.
