Coach Pearl and company have set up a home and home with Ohio State starting next season.

Tennessee has reached a preliminary agreement to play Ohio State in a home-and-home series beginning this season in Columbus, Ohio, with a return game in Knoxville during the 2007-08 season.

It will be Tennessee's first meeting with the Buckeyes since 1979 when No. 2 Ohio State scored a 91-65 win in Columbus. The last time UT played a team from the Big Ten was on Nov. 21, 2001. The Vols defeated No. 18 Wisconsin 66-56.

The Buckeyes are ranked in the top five of most early top-25 projections and feature freshman Greg Oden, the No. 1 recruit in this year's class and a likely lottery NBA draft pick in 2007.

It's not Duke, but I'll take it.

I'd still rather play Duke, Ohio St is gonna be TOUGH!

Definitely, but just think if it turns out like the Texas game this past season. That game against Texas did a lot for our program.

Oh yeah. The game at Texas did wonders. OH State will be a good game. I think we'll get them both times. :dance2: :dance2: :dance2: :dance2: :dance2:

Didn't we have like 4-5 slots open? Jones said there will be surprises, that is plural. This may only be the 1st of a few surprises and it is a pleasant surprise.

Yeah well, this the only one I know about so far. :D

I'm not sure if I like them loading the schedule like that. I know what playing a tough schedule involves and the positives that can come from it, but we could also get hammered a bunch of times. :ninja:

But the thought of these young talented players coming in playing against talented teams like Ohio State and Florida makes me smile about the future of Tennessee basketball even more.

Who knows, they might steal a few games.. :cross:

I love it. I am so used to us playing teams like Campbell, Citadel, and Coastal Carolina. It is nice to see us playing some national teams for a change.

I am looking at some of the games for next year. Think of how often we could be on national television. Texas, Memphis, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Preseason NIT, Syracuse?, Florida twice, Kentucky twice, LSU, Alabama are all games that could potentially be on national tv. Obviously, not all of those will, but with our rise as a team nationally, along with Coach Pearl's national recognition, and the probable high ranking of the oppossing team, it could be quite a few times.

Another great thing about playing such a tough schedule is it makes your profile look much better come march. Last season we were a 2 seed with a 22-8 record. Our schedule looks to be better this year.

I love our schedule. We are big time now, so we will play the best. This year, all of the big ones out if conference were going to be at home. Now, we have a high quality road game.

Wow. Good deal. I'd pay just to see the two recruiting classes from those two play each other...

Let's not get out of hand. We've got the pre-season NIT, Texas, and Memphis. That's tough enough.

This kicks tail! I can watch my Vols play in Columbus!

Now if we can only get the football teams to play a home and home so we can show these yankees how to play football!

:dance2:

If any of you come up to Columbus you will have to come visit, it is hard being surrounded by buckeyes!

That's one scary game. If the Bucks can get there big new recruits to stick around for '07, they may very well be looking at a national title. Heck, they're looking at one next season.

It's definitely a gutsy move adding teams like this to your schedule. It's all about the exposure, experience, and the RPI.

Plus, Tennessee might seem more interesting to recruits out of highschool if we start adding some of these teams to the schedule.

Sweet..OSU has set up some heavyweight competition...they come to Gville next yr with a return trip at Columbus..and also play at the Dean Dome for the ACC/B10 challenge. Cant wait to see how the "great" Oden stacks up.

Wouldn't want the schedule to be as tough as the women's team. Had to tweak you there Hat. :D
