Tennessee vs. Southern Indiana Game Thread 11/7/13

My take (as if anybody gives a F):

Richardson should be used as a major "we can coach you up" recruiting tool.

Skinny Stokes is badass.

Skinny Stokes better learn to hit free throws with the new rules.

Maymon is better than expected after the year layoff.

Hubbs is a great athlete with a sweet stroke who says "what the F is defense?" (he'll get better)

AJ Davis will be a freakin stud by his junior year.

Darius was a great pick up by Cuonzo, he'll be the best pg since CJ.

Crowd was embarrassing. Looked like a Buzz coached game. Where the F is err'body?

Agree with everything except Thompson. I just don't see it. He'll be a nice player here, but I think Austin is the future PG of the program.

Crowd probably wasn't too interested in a scrimmage against a D2 team. Albeit a good D2 team, but still.

Being a D2 or not we faced two top 20 D2 teams and took them out of the game with ease without our projected starting PG. This same team took IU to the last 6-7 mins. IU is suppose to be a top 20 team. I think we will have a special season.

Trying to remain level headed, but tonight's performance has me pretty optimistic. Ready to see how we look with our starting PG, and unleashing our beasts for 30 minutes against Xavier.

I'm basing a lot of that on Richardson's development. I think player development is a strong suit of this staff.

True. They've done pretty decent. Even Reese and Edwards look better. Sadly, they couldn't get through to Kenny Hall.

I just don't think Darius has the athleticism to be a good SEC starting PG. Do I think he is a solid 15-20 minute a night player that can give you offense? Yes. But even before the exhibitions, I just didn't see it. Plus, I'm very, very high on Larry Austin. But it's early. We'll see what happens.

I think his junior year he could be primarily a 2, and good at it. Austin the 1, Thompson the 2 and Hubbs at the 3 after Richardson is gone.

Thompson's ability to stick with smaller quicker guards has always been my concern, but as you said it's still early.

Doubt Hubbs is a three year player. If he is, that's somewhat disappointing because he's going to be the man in 2014-2015.

I also don't see Thompson as a consistent blow by offensive player, which will hurt him. He does have a great stroke though.

He's more athletic than you think, and at 6'5" can shoot over a lot of 2s. As for Hubbs who knows, not many people thought Stokes would be around for 3 years where first got here.

Martin saw Thompson and loved him, made him a priority and desperately wanted him in orange, I think he really likes DT and is gonna put a lot of time and effort into his development.

I agree. I'm trying to do the same. I hope we don't come out against Xavier and lay an egg. I don't see it happening, but you never know.
