I think CDS was trying to save Freeman since KS is out. Had no choice but to go back to the game plan. Did you notice his demeanor when the camera caught him talking to Simcox after the pitching change and Freeman was warming up....

Not sure if I'm thinking of the same time, but I thought they were discussing the substitutions...

with the timing it looked like CDS was frustrated with himself by not going straight to Freeman. I would have made the same move but he did look "hot" during the conversation.
