Tennessee vs The Maxims vs Auburn

One more thing, supposedly were playing VA Tech at Bristol in '15. I would love one year for the TN Volunteers to play a football game on Monday, Veterans Day, it would be a short week to Saturday, or have that weekend be a bye week.

If Bristol?, why not Veterans Day? I know, I'm dreaming.

I just learned that the Doolittle Raiders gathered for the last time Friday at the USAF Museum in Dayton, OH. They opened the bottle of 1896 cognac and toasted their buddies who went before.

One of the first military history books I ever read was Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo by Raider Ted Lawson. The book later became one of the better WWII movies starring Spencer Tracy as Doolittle and Van Johnson as Lawson.

I wrote a bit about the Raiders several years ago which I have posted here: http://www.volnation.com/forum/pub/...ittle-raiders-last-gathering.html#post9478350

Cool, I watch TCM, probably the only place you will see Spencer Tracy as Doolittle, I watched the newer version, but just ok.

Just a few years ago, I still go to libraries, sure you do to, I wish I could remember the authors, but two great books, one, a candid account of the Battle of Little Bighorn, I think with Major Reno's help, although I question his bravery, and the other book about the Frozen Chosin Reservoir, written by a Native American who was a Marine at the Chosin, the Marines, we both know, were just walking backwards, chewing gum, and still kicking azz.

Sorry I can't remember the authors, but that's why I still like going to libraries, to find those "gems", those books just waiting to be read. Thanks for the info about the Raiders.

Viet Nam had it's battles, Hamburger Hill, movie too, I was in Korea in '88, Pusan though, oh well, also the 101st MP Co in '95, the Korean War, used to be called the Forgotten War, no more, had their share of famous battles, Battle of Bloody Ridge, Battle of Punchbowl, Heartbreak Ridge (movie), Battle of Old Baldy, Battle of Whitehouse, Battle of Triangle Hill, Battle of Eerie, Battle of the Frozen Chosin Light Jog Backwards, Battle of Porkchop Hill etc. I'm just glad that the Korean War, like I heard so many times on TV, is no longer the "forgotten war".

Happy Veterans Day!!

Other than the fact that Michael Palardy can make an open-field tackle (see rant above), that Raijon Neal with a competent offensive line would be putting up Chuck Webb numbers, and that Josh Dobbs is shaping up into a dandy signal-caller who desperately needs a better supporting cast, anything positive one takes from this game is thin gruel indeed.

I get that the OL committed the penalties. And I will say they have underperformed a bit...I have been tracking their NFL draft projections and they have in fact dropped a bit over the course of the season so there you go.

But for the record, we are having our best year running the ball since 2004 and are 19th in the NCAA in sacks allowed. Sounds pretty "competent" to me.

66 yards vs Florida and 94 vs Mizzou would argue otherwise. Bear in mind that over 800 (833 to be precise), very nearly half, of UT's total rush yards came against Austin Peay, South Alabama and Western KY. I'm sorry but gaudy rush yards against KIL-level competition (my apologies to any Fulton Falcons I may have offended by comparing them to those three) does not impress me.
