Wow! OMG, please no more selfie’s!
On a more serious note, I will wait for the continued lessons and maxims with great hope. A couple of recommendations; those of Volosaurus plus the ‘72 bama , the ‘74 UCLA, the ‘67 bama and the ??? ‘71 Auburn would be great reviews.

Just to be clear, you are not saying that OMG lacks style, right?

To the contrary, I simply employed a metaphor that was loosely appropriate to the question raised above. Posts that commonly receive the most comments on Vol Nation, particularly in the Football Forum, are either sarcastic, silly, or negative. They are not substantive. OneManGang's contributions are almost always substantive.

While you're at it, why don't we reach back into the Pleistocene and address the game that "put Tennessee on the map," the 1928 Alabama game in which the Flaming Sophomores defeated the Tidy Bowl boys 15-13, based significantly on Gene McEver's 98-yard return of the opening kickoff for a touchdown. And don't forget Neyland's psychological ploy of asking Wallace Wade to shorten the quarters, should the game get out of hand.

OK, I've been thinking (and God knows how dangerous that can be!)

Many of you have expressed a desire for me to post other history essays or somesuch.

I may have a solution. I'm thinking of doing, say. once a month. a Maxim review of a classic Tennessee game from the last 40 years or so, and keep the same format. All of these took place before I began these game reviews in 2001.

Here's my ideas:

January - Alabama, 1982

February - Auburn, 1985

March - Notre Dame, 1990 (Yes, I know the Vols lost, but it is still the greatest college football game I ever witnessed.)

April- Florida, 1992 (It's a Downpour!)

May - Sugar Bowl, 1986

June - Arkansas, 1998

July - Citrus Bowl 1996 (UT vs Eddie George)

August - Fiesta Bowl, 1999 (because, of course!)

I am open to suggestions.

So, what do you guys think?
Yes!

Thank you for all you've done @OneManGang.

Glad I finally got over being angry about the loss to take time to read this. It is great as always. I just hate that now we have to wait until Sept. 2022 for another addition.

OMG, Thank you for an outstanding season of military history interwoven with our beloved Volunteers football season. Somehow you manage to increase our intellectual capacity throughout the year. Enjoy your off season and stay away from the transfer portal! LOL
