No. I would much rather have Dooley with a competent DC.

I would take Dooley/Wilson/Sirmon over Jones.

agree. dooley couldve brought in another D-coord. and we mightve been good next season. all this guy has proven is he can play with brian kelly's recruits. he hasnt built anything on his own. this is so disappointing. and the way the search was handled makes us look desperate like no one else wants the job. make the whole program look awful.

I completely agree! How do you fire a guy and haven't tested the water and have a plan on who you want to replace him??

I'm mostly concerned with the installation of the spread (which I believe Jones ran at Cinci) and who Jones puts on his staff.

If Jones comes with the Cincinnati staff wholesale I'm going to be very very very wary.

If Jones comes in and keep the current offensive staff and moves Hinshaw to QB and brings in Martin @WR... I think he'll be okay.

If Jones does the above and brings in a guy like Randy Shannon @DC then Jones' chances of success skyrockets.

To me, it all comes down to "Spread or not".

the spread worked great at that shatty suitcase school... It will be a complete effing disaster in the SEC. See Mizzou.

Yes! Bielema er whatever would have been pretty good, but just like CBJ seems better with time, Bielema er whatever seems worse. Hireing Cheaney seems odd for him, seems like he would want to play "3 yards in a cloud of dust". Remember, he's never won squat in the SEC either...

See Florida(w/meyer).......

I know right? I laugh at people who say "the spread" like its doomed to fail. It works, has worked and will work. Does not mean its pass happy or soft in its nature. It all will come down to recruiting just like any other offense. Maybe this will help explain it more.

Average Per Rush 2012 6.1 oregon, 2012 5.2 cinci, 5.3 2007 gators, 5.6 2009 gators

"What people don't know is that many high school and collegiate teams use the spread to run the ball. Why? Spreading people out with 4 receivers makes defenses "show their cards" so to speak. A defense can line up only so many ways to defend the spread. They will either maximize their coverage, which will allow less players to stop the run or maximize the box, which will minimize their pass coverage."

One about Chip Kelly
“We spread the defense so they will declare their defensive look for the offensive linemen,” Kelly explained at that same clinic. “The more offensive personnel we put in the box, the more defenders the defense will put in there, and it becomes a cluttered mess.” Twenty years ago, Kelly’s high school coach ran the unbalanced, two–tight end power-I, so he could execute old-school, fundamental football and run the ball down his opponent’s throat. Today, Kelly spreads the defense and operates out of an up-tempo no-huddle so he can do the exact same thing.

Time will undoubtedly tell whether Kelly’s offense can work in the NFL, but my vote is that it will. It would require Kelly finding the right players, but a Chip Kelly–coached NFL team would win for the same reasons that the Chip Kelly–coached college team wins. Behind the speed, the spread, the Daft Punk helmets, and the flashy uniforms, Oregon ultimately wins with old-fashioned, fundamental, run-it-up-the-gut football. I think everyone, even fans of the spread offense, can appreciate that.

UT was,BY FAR, the best job! IT WAS ALSO THE MOST CHALLENGING!! Not many men have big enough footballs to come into a place after Dools destroyed it and have to travel to Bama,Ore,and Fla. We also play Uga,Scar, and Ms St @Neyland. That`s 6 games that are going to be upsets if we win. So,WHO ELSE HAD FOOTBALLS? I`m dang PROUD to have Coach Jones! He reminds me of Les Miles. Been watching him for 6 yrs. HE`S A GREAT COACH! GO VOLS!
