The win over #13 LSU tonight is a quality quadrant 1 win. Great to have in the bag.

Edited to add:
North Carolina has been updated to a Quad 1 win so that is 3 quad 1 wins so far this season.
(UNC with the other two quadrant 1 wins Arizona and LSU.)

This bumps us up from 2-5 where we were to where we are now so far at 3-5 Q1.

Upcoming Q1 games on the schedule this season:
Our games against Kentucky, Auburn, Mississippi State, and Texas are all quad 1 so would be more quad 1 wins.

Go Vols!

A much needed win for sure at home, but I haven’t changed my opinion of this UT team. We were fortunate that Minson was not available for LSU as he would have made a difference. Hopefully we don’t have a lapse against Florida. The Gators are decent but shouldn’t beat us on our home floor. Defensively we are very good, but there are no gimmes with this group, because on the offensive end, particularly in half court offense we are consistently bad.

Our rotation at least seems to be set. Plavsic starts and BHH and Fulky come off the bench. Bailey no longer plays. Powell spells JJJ off the bench, but our best lineup is when Vescovi, Chandler and Ziegler are in the game at the same time.

Kinda like chandler and fulk would’ve helped us against bama? Injuries and illness are part of all sports…..

I think it's more that the team follows the coach mentality...and I've got my own not so great opinion of Will Wade. That being said, I'm glad LSU came in like they did. I think it woke us up. We need to bring that physical mentality the rest of the season.

I agree 100%. Let’s think back to when we had Grant and Admiral. I can’t recall if it was Purdue, or Loyola but we were knocked out of the tourney. Auburn took us behind the woodshed, too, in the SEC title game. I recall all of us, including me, saying we should go small ball as we needed athletes with speed and shooters.

We still lack the pure shooters with Vescovi being our go to. However, we lack the athleticism vs. the KY and Auburn rosters.

I agree we need another post player, esp one with athleticism who can at least move around and create a shot/post move similar to Grant.

So we're 2-5 in Q1 games. The most likely Q1 wins left on our schedule are @Ark and @Miss St. Would be great to win both of those.

Well, this thread went haywire. Glad I read through all of that. Triggered thread is triggered.

Great Q1 win las night, I loved that Uros was getting into it. He plays hard. Vescovi does as well. Barnes has done well with the euro guys

This team makes me shake my head and yell at the tv or stand up in my seat (@ at Vandy game) with frustration as KC or another turn it over or we go on a four min scoring drought.
However, I am happy for Uros as he is building confidence and supposedly works hard. He is a team player who always supported his team while riding the pine.
My son sees him out all the time on the strip at 3AM ( I guess I did it,too- 😝) and he is always friendly and kind to others. It’s a bit intimidating though to be face to face with a 7 footer when you are 6’1. 😝. So I am very proud of URos and Santi, too.

I just hope this team can find consistent shooting with less turnovers as Auburn, KY and other athletic teams come at you hard with speed and relentless ball pressure.

Plus it's obvious that they are coached to create overly aggressive contact and dare the refs to call it. The kid that speared JJJ below the waist....dirty. This isn't football and could really hurt someone not wearing pads.

The kid that grabbed Uros and yanked him down...dirty and could have caused an ankle or leg injury. This isn't jiu jitsu or wrestling.
Constant shoves in the back on rebounds. This will happen occasionally but LSU repeatedly does it.

There are ways to play bully ball within the rules and without being dirty. I also don't like how often opposing guards extend their off ball arm and shove ZZ back when he is pressing them. Should be a foul every time and I haven't seen it called once.
I think you hit the nail squarely on the head. Wade sets the pace and his players follow suit, and he pushes that envelope completely off the table.
