unlikely, but Duke will be better this year than last.So just so I am clear on this, you think Duke will finish above North Carolina in the ACC this year?
I still don't think Duke will be that good. They brought in some good players, but still are lacking in the post. They lost an overrated McRoberts but only return a project center in Brian Zoubek and an underperforming Lance Thomas. The only other posts on their team are 6'7" and 6'6". Maybe Taylor King and Kyle Singler can help a little but neither are bangers.
is there some reason here or is this just wishful thinking? K has had the most consistently great program in the country for the past 20 years. I don't understand what makes you think that has changed.I don't either, and honestly, I won't be surprised if Duke doesn't challenge for an ACC title again this decade or well into next.

in college hoops, it's likely that down times remain so for two to three years. means a class or two of recruits didn't live up (McRoberts and Paulus fitting that bill) to expectations and have to be replaced. When those classes are needed for leadership and floor presence, they aren't there and freshmen are bing asked to play a role that most aren't ready for.I just have a feeling that UNC will dominate the conference for most of Roy Williams time there. We will see how Duke performs this year, but if it is another down year, it could get ugly for them.

While I expect them to rebound to some degree, a down year this season means nothing IMO.
Roy Williams will not run away and hide from the rest of the ACC. Talent and fortune cycle, and recruiting is a fickle game. Roy will have his ups and downs just like the rest of them.
