Tennessee is on their list according to rivals with no team ranking higher than them. Smith, Chism, Prince and Maze will free up four scholarships. That leaves one scholarship left. If Jurrick leaves the team, two. I am starting to wonder if it's a coincidence that Tennessee has only offered one center(Josh Smith) a scholarship and Phillip Jurrick may leave the team. Brian Williams would be a senior when Smith is an incoming freshman and would be the only other center on the roster. If Tennessee snagged Josh Smith and a highly rated forward, this team is set for a while. Let's go Vols, let's go :clapping:

That sucks. I wonder how I missed that. I've been going to Go Vols Extra everyday forever. I guess I can blame them for not doing a better job of reporting... or myself for not finding a better place (like this) until now. Did Melvin Goins take Daniel West's scholarship? I thought the team brought Goins in before West was off. That would be another available scholarship if that is the case.

West was never on scholarship.

UT lost a scholy due to a bad report for players leaving the team without graduating. Really gay. Its cause of Buzz and ramar and major

Well then... I think I'm just clueless. I thought he was on scholarship but for academic reasons wasn't eligible to play. You'd think Tennessee would kick him to the curb sense he is bombing classes and isn't even a good enough basketball player to get a scholarship.

the scholarship loss is only for 1 season... (2009-2010) It shouldn't affect the next class.

If Smith comes back, Jurick leaves and all is well (Jurick may leave anyway)

That's ridiculous. Losing a scholarship over that? What a load of crap. Bruce Pearl boots Ramar Smith and Duke Crews when he doesn't have to and because of bad reporting, they lose a scholarship. F the NCAA. I still think the Ohio St. tournament game was rigged. Off topic I know but still. The NCAA pisses me off. For what it's worth, I also think the Miss. St. game this year was rigged to get another SEC team in. Every thing Varnado(sp?) did was a block and every time Tennessee went for a block, it was a foul. In reality it was probably 50/50 for both sides.

He wasn't allowed to be on scholarship last year because the NCAA flagged his test scores. He did just fine in classes at UT. Pearl told his family that as long as West made the grades (he did) that West would have a place on the team. Pearl lied.

Good stuff. I feel better about it then if that's the case. Could've used more help than Hall and Goins but next incoming class could be filthy. Josh Smith and a forward would be an entire starting freshman lineup with Hall as a redshirt freshman or sophomore to complete it.

no... that isn't how it went down.

but you were obviously there and your consistent beef with Pearl obviously doesn't affect your embellishment of the circumstances.

Lame. I will continue to back Pearl though. Why wouldn't he be able to keep his spot on the team? He could've passed up Goins to bring him back. Are you sure West was eligible to rejoin the team? I feel bad for him if it's true that Pearl lied to him.

Smith isn't coming here, 0% chance.

Just because we have offered doesn't mean we are even in it.

He was eligible. But instead of taking the kid he originally wanted to give a scholly to he's taking some juco retread.

Tennessee is medium on the list like a bunch of other teams. For 99% of the players it shows teams in alphabetical order when you click their profile. Tennessee is at the top for him though. Could be nothing but maybe it's something. Washington is second on the list which is where he is from.

Josh Smith - Basketball Recruiting

Tennessee may not get him but to say no chance or zero percent chance is pretty negative. Rivals seems to think Tennessee is in the running.

we have 0% chance of getting Smith, just trust us....

FIU may offer him and it shows up on Rivals as medium, because they offered. it means nothing...

We'll see. I am not counting Pearl out. We've seen him land Scotty Hopson, Ramar Smith, Duke Crews, Josh Selby.... I'll let Pearl do his thing and hope for the best.

What about this guy then?
David Nyarsuk - Basketball Recruiting

He is 138 and ranked a 3* but he seems to fit Pearls style more than the fatty looking Josh Smith. He is a 7ft 220lb center. According to rivals his only choices are Tennessee and Ohio St. He'll probably go to Ohio St. though sense he looks like he is 80 years old. Kind of like Gregg Oden. He has a weird last name(foreign?), he probably is 80. Look at him
