Especially since they were a bunch of pasty effeminate looking cats.

True. I don't think KO or Kiffin have to worry about those guys getting in the way in the weight room.

From my perspective, having seen them live, and having seen Rhyne Williams play a set v. Roger Federer, I think Williams is the only legit future pro prospect. Not right now though. Another year to mature. The others I just don't see it. Tennys Sandgren is no where near mature enough and he has got some questions to answer after getting served a bagel in the set to decide the National Championship.

This sux big-time--this makes the third time we've been national runnerup in tennis. SUX! I would have sworn that we would win at least three singles matches with this team, but we didn't have it. JPSmith losing the first set, when he should have won it, was huge--but five of our six players lost their first sets, and that is hard to recover from. Couldn't believe it. It certainly helped that USC had played--and won--a title match with the same group of guys last year. I wonder, too, if beating georgia at georgia in the semis--in front of a big crowd--took a lot out of the team. Whatever it was, we didn't have it in singles. Missed a huge chance. Sux.

Oh well.

That's the first NCAA tennis match I've watched.

It seems to be a better spectator sport than I thought. Why not watch two or three matches at a time instead of just one?

Like hat said, got to keep in perspective that USC is a tremendously talented DEFENDING national championship team.

I've followed the team all year and knew it was going to be a battle. I expected a win, but knew the singles was a toss up.

Hate to come so close and lose, but we lost to a great team.

LOL at some of you guys.

all three JP,Tennys,Rhyne could go pro and make alot of money if they wanted too!!!

JP is the best on the roster but didnt show it tonight

If Tennys and Williams stay, TN will be in the mix for it again next year. JP has already said he was staying. Jones , who played #3 doubles is a solid player. There is also a kid from India who had to RS this year who would have been in the lineup as well had he been eligible.

Sandgren will be fine. The kid is basically a semester out of HS. He has done well internationally as a junior player, but college Tennis is a different animal.

The LV's could use a commitment from Williams sister, who I believe is a Junior in HS (Home school). She is a rising star as well.

Are you going to keep up with the singles and doubles tournament the rest of the week? Not sure I have the heart to watch.

I think JP makes an early exit. Something is not right with his game right now. Rhyne could play well enough to make some noise in singles. Boris surprised me tonight with his loss.

JP and Davey in doubles is the best shot for a title, I guess.

yes i will be watching.

I think JP had his mind on the singles tournament more then this Championship match with USC and it was showing the past 3 days. Boris loss was kinda not surprising to me because he was playing the #3 player in singles

It is still much more than irritating to lose anything else to that school in this calendar year.

Wish I had ESPNU to watch this. Sucks the boys went down but USC is tremendously talented. 2nd is not a bad season by any stretch of the means

Its not like JP was playing scrubs. He was playing a top 10 player tonight. JP has been solid all season. USC kid was just better tonight.

Williams was quoted after the match talking about next season and trying to make another run...looks like he might be coming back as well. That would be good news.

Also, sounds like the HC took the blame for not getting his players better prepared for the environment and calming their nerves. Coach speak yes, but probably not that far of base.

EVERYONE is coming back except the seniors

For purely selfish reasons, I hope they all come back. They are fun to watch live and in person at UT.

Everyone should go to a home match next season and sit down at the bottom with the players. It is hilarious to listen to them cheer their teamates on. Good fun.

And, not to mention, if they all come back, they will be primed for another run at the National title.
