Troy Gillenwater likes Tennessee alot. He said they were recruiting him very hard. Singleton is hoping for Roy and his simpletons to start recruiting for his services. But now that Ed Davis gave them a verbal, there is absolutely no way he'll receive legitimate interest from UNC.

I've heard Gillenwater may have issues that we need to steer clear from. I hear about new post possibilities but most come and go. I think Singleton knows this and isn't worried at all. I'm worried he will drag it on until signing day and go elsewhere and then we will only have Jurick for the post.

ole Bruce will pull in somebody if Singleton doesnt commit, he'll get an underrated guy and yall kno the rest of the story....

No offense to Brian Williams, I just don't wanna get stuck in that situation that Hickson put us in last year. We seemed to be pretty set there too but it slipped away and we had to dig just to find another big body. The good thing here is that we could always hold on to the scholly for the year after since we currently only have 1 scholly for that class.

Yes, Troy has some incidents in the past, but the staff hasn't ruled him out of the equation as of yet. If it does drag on that long for Chris, the only other place he'd go would be Chapel Hill. Like I said earlier, any chances of Chris being recruited by UNC ended when Ed Davis gave them his commitment. Chris needs to lose any fantasies of UNC coming into the picture if he wants a spot on our roster. Bruce won't take his game much longer if a guy like Darius wants to make a commitment.

Troy's incidents also will make it very hard to get through the clearinghouse, worse case than Ramar's. We would definitely take Darius, but I think he ends up at UK.

I was using Darius as more of an example. Basically, if a prospect high on their board (post player) wants to give us their verbal, Bruce will tell Chris he has an immediate decision to make.

I don't think the staff is desperate to land a Forward. From what I've heard, they feel VERY good about landing Cashmere Wright and Elliot Williams. Wright will be in Knoxville this weekend and I'm guessing there's a good chance he commits, especially with the Holloway development. According to Chris Low, the staff won't take a commit from Holloway until things shake out with Wright. And as I said, I gather that they feel very good about Wright. As for Williams, Keith Easterwood has said that the UT staff could not have done more to let EW know how bad they want him. They've camped out in Memphis and he's comfortable with them...and in Knoxville. Just as important, his parents like UT the best.

SO...add all those things up and I think we'll have Wright, Williams and Jurick. That puts the staff in a great situation because they can wait on a talented 4th player like Darius Miller or Chris Singleton, but if neither wants to come, we just hold the scholarship for the 2009 class, which, at this point, only has one scholarship available...although I think someone will go pro, but it would be nice to have three scholarships for 09 unless you can get a stud in 08.

The way I see it, our signing class will be:
1. Wright
2. Williams
3. Jurick
4. Miller OR Singleton OR Gillenwater OR Hold the scholarship

I'm not saying they're desperate by any means. I'm merely suggesting that if Troy or Darius decide to give us a verbal Chris will have a decision to make.

Frankly, I don't think his decision would include Tennessee at that point because Tennessee would take whoever wants to commit. I'd kinda like to see it be Darius Miller, just to stick it to UK. :)

I think taking Singleton would stick it to them just as much with Zeller dropping them, Jennings picked Maryland, and them basically having no posts other than Singleton on their board.

Billy Clyde is as plugged into the JUCO scene as any coach in America. If they don't get a high school post, they'll simply go that route.

Let's see. UK has this for the post:

1. Perry Stevenson(So)-Decent height for a 4, but no size. Great shot blocker but extremely limited on offense.
2. Jared Carter(Jr)-Typical Tubby Smith project center. Good height, limited skill. Can Billy Clyde do something with him? Possible transfer.
3. A.J. Stewart(Fr)-Undersized 4 with limited skills. UK beat out Jacksonville, Clemson, FSU, and Illinois for him.
4. Mike Wallace(Fr)-Another Tubby project center with good height and very, very limited skills. UK beat out American for this stud.
5. Patrick Patterson(Fr)-Comes into UK as the best post on the team. Will be asked to play C and PF. Great all around game, may be one and done.

They are very limited in the post and 2-3 of the 5 may never even contribute. Only 1 of the 5 is a legit scorer and he may be gone after next season with a good year. Here are the posts still listed with interest in them for the 08 class:

5* Greg Monroe(huge coup, no chance though)
5* Jamychal Green(UK not in final 4)
5* Tyler Zeller(soon to drop them)
4* J'Mison Morgan(shows no offer from UK)
4* Kevin Jones(legit possibility, pretty open though, a little undersized)
4* Brandon Moore(shows no offers)
4* Darius Miller(undersized for the post)
4* Chris Singleton(who knows?)
4* Terrance Henry(shows no offer from UK)
3* Bawa Maniru(shows no offers, limited skill)
3* Laurence Bowers(favors Arky and Mizzou, no offer from UK)
3* Jeff Taylor(shows no offer from UK)
3* Terry Fields(shows no offer from UK)
3* Carter McMasters(shows no offer from UK)
3* Teeng Akol(favors Pitt and DePaul, no offer from UK)
3* Enoch Andoh(shows no offers)
3* Eladio Espinosa(shows no offers)
3* Colton Iverson(favors Neb and Minn, no offer from UK)
UR Dominique Keller(JUCO, no offer from UK)

In other words, they only have a few options for a post in this class:

1. Land Jones or Singleton.
2. Go smaller than they want.
3. Land a pipe dream.
4. Go JUCO.
5. Take a lower tier player.
6. Hold the scholly for next year.

There is the possibility that other names pop up, but right now it isn't looking good.

And either way, I've heard Witherspoon isn't much of a possibility at this point. Woolbridge is just been evaluated.

Underestimate Billy Clyde's recruiting at your own peril.
