Too bad they aren't from another country that we can invade.

Eh, that doesn't matter. We can just use it to inflame passions and then invade whoever we like that may look/speak/worship like some of them. If that fails, someone just needs to suggest a 'link' to the foreigners we want to kill and then tell us that the actual info is classified and we just have to take their word for it.

4 Occupy Clevelanders and their buddy try to blow up a bridge, and it's barely a blip on the national radar.

If these guys had ever attended a Tea Party rally the media would be treating it like we barely avoided 9/11 2.0.

Fyp.

Without coherent organization and leadership, the Occupy movement will be completely ineffective. Thus, the more fringe and radically violent elements will be led to believe that non-violent protest will not accomplish their goals (whatever those are) and they will resort to violence. Someone in the movement needs to take the reigns, be the figurehead, and organize the movements of the movement. Then, they might actually be able to negotiate (same can be said of the Tea Party).

This thing is getting nutty. Apparently we had a double agent in AQ and he's the guy that was supposed to carry out the plot.

There was a leak from the government that apparently stopped the under cover operation and there's also indications that Congress was not properly briefed according to law.

If you've followed the story you can see how the admin has been stumbling around the explanation.

Stay tuned to this one.

I don't understand why this got leaked. It's a great victory for the country, but we also let AQ know that we're gathering intelligence from within their organization.

Maybe the intel dries up after an attack is thwarted, so no harm.

It's looking like the operation was ongoing but got truncated by the leak.

Even Feinstein is saying the leak is a big (bad) deal.

This sucks, now the Yemen AQ will do more to screen potential recruits.

The fact that the Saudis were able to plant a mole and he was tapped for this is quite the coup. The fact the CIA was able to turn his intelligence around quickly to make a strike at the USS Cole mastermind is fantastic intelligence work as well. My guess is someone sat on this until they got him, then went public...too early still, IMO. And, why would they ever release the info that the guy was a mole? The only guess I've got is that it was either a bad leak - or an interesting strategy...make AQAP tear itself apart with mole hunts.

Anyone besides me wondering if the report of a double agent is designed to flush something else out?

the more I think about it, the more what you asked makes sense. unless someone really is just loose lipped, but it appears that there are multiple confidential "sources"
