Texas A & M looking around

Is the Big 12 making any effort to retain the school?

If I'm the commissioner, I'm not liking the outlook for my job security if another team leaves the conference.

SMU Mustangs go public with interest in joining Big 12 - ESPN Dallas

Smart move by SMU, IMO. Let everyone know they're serious about being a big-time program again. Let everyone else know where to come when they're interested in getting some of the Dallas-Fort Worth market. Better to be proactive about trying to get into a BCS conference than sit around waiting for a conference to come calling.

edited to add: not that the Big 12 needs SMU for the DFW market.

That's the article that made me say "let's just add SMU too"

We can expand completely west. Move the two most eastern West teams to the East division and we're set.

I think FSU is a fit. Tallahassee is a southern city. They have a great gameday and tradition. And I'd be extremely happy to see my wife's Alma mater get creamed in the SEC.

Although I know UF would hate FSU coming to the SEC....Alabama and Auburn are in the same state.

Or do away with geographical names of the divisions and go with something like "leaders and legends." What's that? It's taken already?
