Lots of people don't understand this concept but you hit the nail on the head. Much easier to win in the ACC than the SEC
Didn't Jimbo leave FSU in somewhat of a mess? Reminds me of Pete Carol bolting to the NFL from USC. The grass is greener because you killed the old grass.

What a tangled web we weave...
How bad of a coach do you have to be to have the #2-3 most talented team in the nation and be this bad. I would argue even Dooley did more with less.

Quinn Ewers is a good example. Depends on the NIL deal and length. He wanted to go to Texas but he took the Ohio St million. Then after one yet went back to Texas where he wanted to be all along. Some deals may require so many games played at X university or maybe so much per season and if it’s a huge amount some players may be smart enough that they won’t get that much money elsewhere and stay put. I have a feeling that’s what several of Texas A&M players may run into. Yes got large chunks of cash to go there and transferring it may not be worth the risk money wise of losing it or getting significant less on NIL elsewhere.
Wait... That disaster that ran the offense for TU was the guy that got a million in NIL money before ever stepping for in a college field? 😂

3rd quarter vs Auburn…
Drive #1 4 plays 0 yards
Drive #2 4 plays 0 yards
Drive #3 4 plays 0 yards
Drive #4 4 plays -15 yards

That whole team transferring….

None of those freshman that haven't played would help us as "veteran help" instantly.
I agree to an extent. They’d have to learn our system. But 1 year in a college football S&c program plus getting to know what that life is like is a huge advantage over the high schooler you just signed.

I think for a player thinking logically, it will restrict them. If they're getting 250k a year at Texas A&m, why would they go somewhere else and only get 100k, or less?

(Just to clarify, I do not know the nature of any of the deals)

Maybe your goal is the NFL and you feel like you aren't being coached up properly/getting playing time. You're probably going to bet on yourself and take a bit of a pay cut to go somewhere you think you can better help you get to the NFL.

Vols fan deep in the heart of Aggieland. I hope A&M can maintain this position until October 14 next year when they come to Knoxville.

Coaching in the ACC not as hard as coaching in the SEC
This year he's lost to

5-5 App St
5-5 Arkansas
6-4 Miss St
4-6 Auburn with an interim HC
6-4 SC
6-4 UF
Sam Houston St, Miami and UMass are all on schedule. It isn't that hard of a row to hoe. There's no logical reason he should not be able to just line up and play vanilla and be 9-3 with this schedule.

Heck, he went 9-1 with an all SEC schedule 2 years ago. There's something more going on here than "Jimbo is a bad coach"

Maybe he has health issues, or on the verge of a mental breakdown. Maybe there's something going on with assistants or boosters.

People say he rode Bowdens coattails at FSU, yet he won 10 games in year 7 there. Pretty sure all of Bobby's guys were long gone by then.

I'm not saying he's Nick Saban by any means but I don't think Derek Dooley would be sitting at 3-7 with this roster.

Texas A&M is a weird scene. I admire their fan loyalty and all, but there’s just something about it that gives me the creeps. Every little thing - and I mean every - somehow becomes a ‘tradition.’ Yell leaders? . . . And, yes, I am familiar with the history behind that ‘tradition.’ Their one-sided obsession with Texas? . . . The Horns and their fans don’t seem to care much at all about A&M. It’s just odd.

My wife went to grad school at A&M several years ago, so I got to see a lot of it firsthand. Plus, being in the Army, there is a decent amount of officers commissioned from A&M ROTC running around. Some good folks in there, but they have a really big chip in their shoulder about West Point (another seeming one-sided obsession/rivalry).

I remember being accosted by an A&M guy from my unit while watching the Army vs Navy game on TV at a Sports Bar about how A&M is really more entitled to be called ‘Army.’ And, no, this dude wasn’t drunk. My response was, “Ok, whatever you say, man.” Let’s just say that A&M was not on my mind at all at that moment.

It’s just really strange and off-putting. They have a self-manufactured inferiority complex that manifests itself in one-sided obsessions with other teams/schools (Texas and West Point being two of the most obvious).

Not sure how (or if) this relates to their current situation but oh well . . . I got to rambling. My bad.
