I was a neutral observer in this but now I hope Notre Dame wins. That was an egregious, horrible call on the review.
It looked bad but depends on when the whistle was blown. If the blew in on initial contact then his forward progress was stopped. They tend to do that when it’s a QB carry.
Yeah, sometimes you just get screwedIn theory, yes. But if you watch TN vs Purdue in the Music City Bowl, then the only thing that matters is what the ref says they meant to call and then it’s a judgement call and not reviewable.
TN’s ball carrier rolled over the tackler and into the end zone, no contact with the ground and no whistle. Also no touchdown.
Proposed rule change:
If a punter attempts to sell a roughing call when there’s no contact whatsoever, the opposing team can rough that punter for the rest of the game without being flagged.
