Rep. Louie Gohmert: Aurora shooting was because of "ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs" - YouTube

What a complete tool this guy is.

He says that since we have taken prayer out of schools, this is God's way of showing that he's angry. It shows you how simple-minded he is, and how bitter he thinks God is. Really??? God is getting revenge like a jealous teenage girl? That's what you think God's plan is? Moron.

Also, he says this proves we need to have less gun control because if everyone had a gun in the theater, this never would've happened. However, when the interviewer informed him that Colorado has hardly any gun control laws, he says it's the victims' fault for not having guns to help stop it.

Does he really think that there would have been less deaths if everyone in the theater had a gun? Especially since Holmes had smoke grenades...if everyone pulls out a gun, they are all going to be shooting each other in a panic. No one would be able to see properly because of the dark theater and smoke, and no one would no if anyone else was in on Holmes' ambush.

This guy is just pathetic. I'm sure Texas is so proud for electing this guy.

What a doofus, he's just as bad as the ones trying to use the tragedy as a symbol for gun control reform.

I can't make an great amount of sense about much of what this guy is espousing but CO certainly has gun control laws, more in fact than several other states. Still, permits would be available to those qualified to obtain them if that's what he was trying address. (poorly) Then there's the fact that if the theatre was posted even if you had a permit it wouldn't have been legal to carry it inside. (IDK if that was the case)

Why would you assume if there were permit holders with weapons they would all be "shooting each other in a panic."? If that's a bias you hold so be it but don't pretend that's one jot more than pure speculation on your part.

Agreed with you thus far.

To say that there wouldn't be a chance of less deaths in this tragedy given everyone having their own gun is absurd.

Jumping to conclusions. After his first shot, it wouldn't be impossible for a close-by gun carrier to see the perp and track him down. Even though there was smoke, You should still be able to see the fire from the shots if you're within a few feet. Sure, other carriers may get confused, but speaking for myself as a handgun carrier, I have way too much sense to know that you shouldn't just blindly fire into a dark and smokey theater (or anywhere for that matter). Know your target, and what's behind your target. You are responsible for every consequence of every bullet you fire.

This explanation certainly makes sense of the Amish schoolhouse massacre a few years back.

Didn't watch the video, but didn't he also try to compare the victims in the theater with the passengers who downed the 9/11 plane? [Those people were brave; these people weren't.]

Yeah, because the two situations were nearly identical. <facepalm>

Imagine you're in a dark theater filled with smoke. You see a guy with a gun, so you shoot him. Then, you see another guy with his weapon drawn. You don't know if he's defending himself or trying to shoot you. So, you shoot him also. Then, more people pull out guns and start firing at you because you have now killed 2 people and they want to defend themselves. This could go on and on and on. Then, if police come, they won't know who started the fire fight. If you don't understand this, I don't know how else to help you. More guns = more violence. It has been proven in studies.

For the sake of accuracy, flight 93 was shot down.

Nice feel good story though.

Texas Tea Party : Taking a stand against critical thinking

FYP:

He is also calling McCain Numb nuts:

Rep. Gohmert calls McCain, critics of letter 'numb nuts' - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) continued to strongly defend a letter he co-wrote with Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and three other Republican members of Congress who accused a top aide to Hillary Clinton of having ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Gohmert, during a radio interview on Tuesday, called critics of the letter "numb nuts" and said it was "obvious" that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who delivered a floor speech attacking the House Republicans for the accusation against Clinton's deputy chief of staff, Huma Abedin, hadn't read the letter.

"Well, it’s obvious that John McCain didn’t even read the letter because of what he said in accusing Michele and us of making these horrible accusations," Gohmert said on the Dennis Miller Show. "And I wish some of these numb nuts would go out and read the letter before they make these horrible allegations about the horrible accusations we’re making. But we also know that John McCain himself had said back in the early stages of stuff going on in Egypt that he was, in his words, 'unalterably opposed to helping the Muslim Brotherhood.' Well, obviously the unalterable person has been altered, so he is OK with it now."
