Sports 56 radio here in Memphis is reporting that Texas is in the process of firing AD Steve Patterson. Does this make anyone wonder how short the leash is on Charlie Strong now?

He's only been there 22 months. This is an indication of a dumpster fire that he turned that program in to. They didn't see it coming.

When he screwed up Mack's exit, whiffed on Saban, hired Strong, and proceeded to jack up prices all within a few months of getting the job, he was a dead man walking.

wow Patterson had no buyout..which means he is going to get 5.6 million for 22 months work!

Patterson had a guaranteed contract that runs through August 2019. When Patterson was hired in November 2013, the UT System Board of Regents approved a five-year, guaranteed contract worth $1.4 million annually. His deal included an annual 2.5-percent cost of living pay increase. The contract has no buyout clause, which means UT is on the hook for the remaining balance.

UT’s fiscal year began Sept. 1. Patterson would be owed at least $5.6 million on his contract, although it’s possible Patterson and school officials could negotiate a lower amount.

Agree on all of that, and I'll include that he alienated some important boosters too. They didn't think he'd do all that, so a group pooled their $ and bought that lying sob out. If it can happen to him, it can happen to Strong.

No "buyout" but the school ain't the one cutting the checks moving forward I assure you.

And I'm sure that it will. Strong cannot afford another mediocre year. It would not shock me in the least to see him gone shortly after Thanksgiving.

I imagine he'll likely head to somewhere tropical and not step foot in Austin City limits again.

My worst nightmare is Strong getting canned, Al Golden going 5-7, and Strong winding up Miami's next head coach.

Steve Patterson is actually Mike Hamilton in disguise. Has anyone every seen them both in the same room?
