Texas is about to fire AD

@McMurphyESPN: Mack Brown: “I hate this for Steve, he was good to me. I’m really happy at ESPN/ABC. I have had no discussions w/anyone about the AD job"

Agree on all of that, and I'll include that he alienated some important boosters too. They didn't think he'd do all that, so a group pooled their $ and bought that lying sob out. If it can happen to him, it can happen to Strong.

Mack Brown needed to retire--or be let go. The basketball program was fading, so I understood that move, too.

My worst nightmare is Strong getting canned, Al Golden going 5-7, and Strong winding up Miami's next head coach.

I think you're giving Strong too much credit. I wonder how well he could recruit Florida now that Clint Hurtt is in the NFL and under a show cause penalty.

Wow, Patterson pissed off the big money guys so bad one of them checked out of his luxury suite. Ouch!

I am actually surprised this went down so quietly. It's almost like they had been planning this for over a year, despite him being AD for only 18 months. I feel like they hired him to make some key changes (specifically coaching) that the fanbases, donors, and alumnus would probably be hesistant to accept, then get rid of him as soon as those changes were implemented.

BTW Tom Jurich keeps getting thrown around here in Austin. Mack Brown is being mentioned, but not seriously it seems - thank the Lords.

I've had people come to my job to make big shake ups, and leave so that would make sense

This is his entire history, this is what he does. His job there was to axe Mack Brown (this is the reason Oliver Luck didn't take the Texas job). As an administrator, Patterson sucked...mismanaged the Rockets, Trail Blazers and ASU to a certain extent.
