yeah here is two more, willis mcgahee.  Remember when everyone thought miami was going to take out ohiostate cause they had been there the year before and had a great running back in willis mcgahee and the best team in college history.  remember what happen to willis and remember what happen in the game?  dont base your answer on one person, cause anyone could drop at anypoint and time.  with that being said i want to go with texas, but then again i want to go with usc.  i will be rooting for texas, as will most, but i dont know who is going to win, seems way to close to call.

I like that Ohio State/Miami comparison from a few years ago to Texas/USC... but no way McGahee is in Bush's league.

I don't think it'll all be on Bush either though, I think the whole USC team will prove the be superior.

Well as for the compeition level with Pac-10 vs. Big 12 this season...

How could you not go with the Pac-10? Sure our defense sucks, but we play a lot of good offense (I still maintain that even the worst starter would be among the best QB's in the SEC or ACC) whereas the Big 12 just sucks all-around. Outside of Texas, what is there? Stoops is trying to fit the pieces back together at Oklahoma, and Texas Tech is irratic.

I forget who said it earlier in the thread, but when you force Vince Young to sit in the pocket and make decisions, he doesn't do very well. Texas A&M proved this. He was limited to just 19 rushing yards on 11 attempts and was forced to throw a decent number of times. What happened to him? He made just one more than 50% of his throws with one TD and one pick. Against Ohio State, he was 18 of 29 with two TD's and two picks. Not horrible by any standards but certainly not even close to good enough to maintain a shootout with USC. The Trojans defense, while down from last year, I believe is probably better than Texas A&M's. Contain Vince Young and Texas' offense is easily stoppable.

I'm going with USC.

I think USC is gonna put the same kinda hurtin on Texas that they put on Chokelahoma last year. It'll be over by halftime.

I AGREE 100%, Texas will be overwhelmed by the speed and talent of the USC offense. USC 35 Texas 21

Both are good teams but I can't stand USC. USC has'nt had to face a defense like Texas'. We will see how Leinart likes being on his butt. Hard to throw the ball that way. First USC has to get through Texas' O-line to put pressure on Young. Won't be that easy. I hope Texas crushes USC.

Two Words, Special Teams. I belive that Special Teams could be the difference in this game. If I'm not mistaken USC's special teams is ranked near the bottom of the NCAA along with the Vols. If Texas doesn't kick the ball to Bush, the I think the Longhorns win. Maybe on a blocked kick or kick return. It should be a great game.

and dont forget that texas is the leader in the nation since 2001 in block kicks, and punts. so that could change a game right there.

HOOK EM HORNS

Texas has a better D usc hasnt faced a good opponent all year in my book if the only sec school you play is arkansas, and the Texas offence is every bit as good as the usc offence. both passin games are good and usc might have the better back in reggie but texas has a qb that can run and a good back usc aint gonna be able to keep up and we will all see how OVER RATED this usc team is

Texas should be #1 right now but the bsc sucks

LETS GET A PLAYOFF

GO HORNS

and whats this corso the other night said that he was finally impressed with the usc D for what they did to ucla i mean hes been say they wherent that good all year and now hes impressed with a win over a mediocre team in my book

well he can just :Bbiteme: :corso:

iv always wanted to use that go to h--- corso thing i though it was funny when i saw it on there but espn doesnt suck

two words..... REGGIE BUSH.
enough said.

Every single time the guy gets the ball it's a highlight play!! He's the best college player in the history of the game.

That said, I still think Texas wins it. They are the most complete team between the two and VY ads a dimension to the Texas offense that USC doesn't have. Texas's D is solid and will show up to play. USC proved that they can be scored on when they played ND and Fres St...who are weak by Texas standards. Texas was a bit stale in the 1st half of a few of it's games, but they absolutely came out in the 2nd half to blow out everyone they played. Vince Young gets it done and there will be no 3-peat this year.

In the SEC I relat USC to Vanderbilt. Good offense no defense.

I have said it before -- This season Vanderbilt was like a 3rd rate Pac-10 team in SEC country. They were the only team who could consistently move the ball all season. Easily the best offense in the SEC this season.

I picked USC to win it but as far as who I'm going for... It goes both ways. On one hand, it would vindicate all the years I watched the Longhorns play when I was little. But at the same time I only want USC to lose to a Pac-10 team.

Does anyone have a reliable source for total defense rankings by team? I am interested to see how the defenses that Texas played compare with the defenses that USC played.

Pac 10 defesnes and Big 12 Defenses...hm...do you really need stats for that?

I will say this, TX did play a pretty good defense in Ohios St. I'm not sure that USC played a good D all year long...
