Do we have any chance with the UTjr commits after the offensive coaching shake-up? I know there are a couple of guys that would really help us.

will have zero effect on their recruiting.
I'd bet they wont lose a single Verbal ccommit because of this

Absolutely ridiculous with the success G. Davis has had at Texas, he is the scapegoat. Everyone knows it's a matter of time before Mack is gone, this reminds a lot of what happened to our program during Fulmer's final years after C. Clausen left. The Big 12 teams are starting to catch up to Texas and Texas thinks they can just roll the ball out on the field and beat everyone with talent alone.

Greg Davis' offenses put up unbelievable numbers there during his time and he has 1 losing season after 9 or 10 straight 10 year wins and they can him. I'm sorry but it's absolutely absurd, the expectations in Austin are ridiculous and Major Applewhite will not be the answer. I hope A&M keeps betting better to ground Texas back to reality.

Will they go after Malzahn as their new OC? Or are they going to go with Applewhite? They could name Gus as their backup coach in waiting, which would be just as ridiculous as a coach in waiting designation.

Gus will probably get a few HC job offers so I doubt he takes another OC position somewhere else after getting to a title game.

I would not rule out Malzahn to Miami. I think he would be a great fit down there. Mike Leach as well.

The assistant coaches are taking the axe in the back for Mack Brown and Will Muschamp. Muschamp stunk up the joint as the Horn's DC in 2010. Hammy ended up getting the last laugh now that we have Dooley and saw how Muschamp failed miserably.

it will not have any affect on recruiting. The Texas kids grow up with the Horns as part of their heritage and Brown is in like Flynt with the high school coaches in texas.

I second that, and we have them in College Station next year!

I don't think the situations are the same at all and I don't think Mac Brown is going anywhere for a long time. He runs the most lucrative ($$$) college football program in the country. He's 133-34 (.796), won the NC in 2005 and was in the NC game less than a year ago. Who's catching up in the Big 12? Mac went undefeated last year (13-0) against those so-called Big 12 teams that are catching up. Nebraska maybe, but they are in the Big 10 next year. Oklahoma is the only team I can think of year in and year out that will compete with Texas and certainly not a reason to run your HOF coach out of town. Unlike Fulmer, Mac doesn't have to keep up a constant nation-wide recruiting search to bring in great talent -- Texas kids will always want to go to Texas and they have the largest talent pool.

I don't see this move as a sign of desperation on Mac's part (although I agree with you that the OC should have stayed -- one bad year? wow). If Mac didn't make changes, everyone would say the game is passing him by. At least he didn't wait until after 4 or 5 years of mediocrity to start marking those changes -- I applaud him for doing it now.

The biggest problem was they switched back to I-Form. Terrible, terrible decision. Made no sense.

Also, people are seriously overreacting to one bad season. They'll be back.

One of the main reasons why Texas was so dominate the past 10 years was their out of conference schedule was UNBELIEVABLY weak, especially the year they won the championship (2005). I lived in Austin for 5 years and know Mack and his family well since I grew up with his children in Chapel Hill. People in Austin are very spoiled in regards to football and a lot of them don't like Mack and want something new, which I firmly believe they will be getting in the next 2-3 years. Mack will not stay on the sidelines like Joe Pa or Bowden, he wants to get out sooner than most people expect.
I am pretty amazed everytime their fans open their mouth and say they want major changes after the success he has had. The success Texas has had the past 10 years is unprecedented in the schools history. Darrel Royal won more championships than Mack (1 more) but Royal's winning percentage was not as high.

Whose gotten better in the Big 12? Almost everybody except Kansas and T Tech. Texas A&M is getting better, they will be better than Texas next year and their recruiting will benefit from it. Baylor is getting better, Oklahoma State is light years better thanks to T-Boone, and is a legit top 20 team. KSU is back with Snyder and regularly whoops Texas and Missouri is also a top 20 program. Where were any of those teams besides Kansas State and occassionally A&M for the past ten years? Believe me the similarities are there and now Texas will be playing the likes of USC (when they are off probation) in a few years and other hard non-conference opponents, which will mean things won't be as easy for Texas in the future.

Despite all of this Texas is still Texas and will be very good, but I doubt they will continue to have 11-1 or 10-2for five to ten consecutive years anymore. The Big 12 is too competitive now. The question is will their fans put up with 3 and 4 loss teams in the near future, or else Mack will be out the door shortly.

Seriously, its like the situation with Florida. People are almost acting like we won't have to worry about Florida for years to come. For now, its only one bad season. Hopefully it will be a trend, but we will see.
