Visiting today per @dascoop
Nice RB. Had a solid year.

Would love to get this guy. So, dascoop said he’s visiting today? We’ve really, quietly, brought him in for this. He’s only visiting Arkansas other than us from what I’ve seen. So, if we want him I’d say we will get him.
Depends on if he wants to be a rotational piece or if he’s dead set on being the starter

Arkansas doesn’t have but one RB left

Maybe. But with Russell leaving Arkansas, he may see a clearer path to PT there.

If I Deere setting the odds on Sampson returning it would be under 1%. Guy has shown his ability to play at the next level and another year can’t help improve his resume IMO
Agreed, another year is just more wear and tear on his body. He has at most 10 years in the league. I think 10 years is all they need to be vested.

Edit: it's only 3 years needed to be vested. I must've been thinking about my old job.

I would be beyond shocked if Dsamp returns. As good as it would be for the team it would be a terrible business/career decision. Will he make the mistake Treveyon Henderson did? Henderson would have likely been one of the top 3 backs taken last year.. now he's likely to be a 3rd or 4th rounder. Funny comp I have seen on Sampson (AK) lol I don't see that one he reminds me more of Charlie Garner.

Had a chance to watch this kid in person this season. He’s pretty good but obviously the competition will be tougher here

If you are joining the invasion of Ohio Saturday, where are your tickets located? Me and my son are going to make the trip to watch our boys make some Vol history.

This kid would probably add a different element to our offense as a receiving threat. Sampson is not a great pass catcher, so that element of our offense has been missing. Lewis and Bishop also haven't shown much in that aspect. He'd be a great arrow in the quiver.

Outside of experience, though, I'm not sure he offers much more than incoming freshman, Daune Morris. Identical size and skill set. I think Sampson catches the ball fine, too, but we just rarely throw to the backs out of the backfield. It's something I wish we'd do more of, honestly. Only 23 completions to RBs, this year. 46 in 2023. 17 in 2022. 20 in 2021.

As spread out as we go with our WR splits, the middle of the field often offers single coverage on a LB.

Would be a nice pickup for the running backs room.

So are we rotating primarily Bishop and Lewis next season? Would a guy who is set on starting somewhere be happy with that situation?

If he was bigger than 180, he would probably be the starter next year.

At his size, he’s at most a gadget type player. This isn’t a knock on us but we wouldn’t do his skill set justice at RB.

Need someone with a little size.
