Texas vs. Baylor

Two years ago Rhule was a first-year Baylor coach trying to dig his way out of the cellar and the rubble that remained from Art Briles’ departure. Baylor went 1-11.

Not exactly true. Baylor was 7-6 the year before Matt Rhule with a bowl win over a solid Boise State squad while using an interim coach. Never let facts stand in the way of a DMN agenda.

Why exactly is Rhule reportedly being coveted by NFL teams? I don't really know what gives - he's obviously having an incredible season, but he's hardly the first college coach to come out of the woodwork with a great season, and other than being an assistant O-line coach for the Giants in 2012 he's never coached in the NFL. It would make more sense if he had been a longtime NFL coordinator or something before coming to Baylor.

I get why Rhule would be connected with a major college job, and I get why someone like Lincoln Riley would be connected with potential NFL jobs (repeated success at a major program, gets a lot of production out of QBs, etc.), but I can't figure out why Rhule's name gets thrown around for NFL jobs.

I don't get it either or how Kingsbury got an NFL job. Rhule's flirting with NFL jobs had hurt recruiting so bad lately (currently last in the BIG XII) he had to sign an extension thru 2028 to reassure recruits and their parents that he won't be bolting anytime soon.

Kingsbury got a job because of Mahomes's MVP season last year. Which, depending on how you look at it, can actually be an indictment against him. He had this incredible talent at QB while at Texas Tech, yet the best he could do with those teams was flirt with or scrape into bowl eligibility.

Also, and this might sound crazy, but I think his Coach Bro image/look had something to do with it. He's young, good-looking, and has these fast-paced, exciting offenses that score a ton of points. The Cardinals were looking for a major shake-up, and they wanted to draft Kyler Murray who runs that style of offense, so he looked attractive to them.

But they still scored 38 on LSU. 🤔🤔🤔

Maybe Herman should spend less time kissing his players and more time putting a boot in their asses...

or not 😂😂😂
And you scored 24 on the 105th ranked defense.

You actually helped their defensive stastics with that game.

How many Top 10 wins does Baylor have this year?

I also don’t remember LSU blowing any 28-3 leads.

Alright... I'll play. None.

Baylor had #7 OU on the ropes but could not finish. Covered the spread and gets a chance at redemption in 2 weeks.

How many top 10 wins do the teams ahead of Baylor have?

LSU four (@#9 TX, vs#7 FLA, vs#9 AUB, @#3 ALA)
OSU NONE
Clem NONE
GA one (vs#6 FLA)
AL NONE
UT NONE
OK NONE
FL one (vs #7 AUB)
MN one (vs #4PSU)
MI NONE

And notice that LSU gets credit for the Texas win while Baylor does not. What was your point again??????

Take away the Texas W and they still have 3 Top-10 wins

3 more than Baylor, who has a big ole goose egg.
Threw away their chance when they had one.

What was your point again?

Why is Baylors lack of a top 10 win such a travesty while six of the teams ranked ahead of them have none either?

I'll hang up and listen.

He excludes Top 25 road wins of which Bama has zilch, nada, zero, none. The committee tried to throw the Tide a bone by jokingly ranking A&M at 25 but they aggied out... again.

Congrats Bears! 5th 10-win season in last 10 years is worthy of mention.

Baylor is a funny exception to so many stereotypes.

Analogous to Miami football or Georgetown basketball. Small private schools with good academics--smack in the middle of a recruiting hotbeds which allow them to excel on national level--yet always in the shadow of a dominant blue blood big brothers that get all the press.

Like Miami was dirty, so is Baylor. It’s a program that should have been shut down when the info about the gang rape victims’ intimidation from the Waco PD at the behest of the AD came to light.
