I am enjoying the ride. For 15+ years we have absolutely suffered as football fans prior to your arrival. Watching our beloved program fall to the bottom of the barrel of college football. A once proud program that was historically a top 10 program in college football by multiple measures.

You have resurrected our program. You have beaten Alabama twice and Florida twice in your 4th season. You have destroyed LSU in Death Valley. You have destroyed Clemson in a bowl game. You have had the Vols ranked #1 in the country (though briefly), you have had the Vols ranked in the top 4 (though briefly). You have made UT more than relevant again, you have made them a contender.

It is truly amazing what you have done for this program.

Thank you, sir. Thank you, I can't wait to continue to see what the future holds.

FAHR HIM! He’s trash, his offense is trash, his inability to pick the right qb is trash…. Blah, blah, blah…. I don’t give a sh*t what it looks like, as long as we are +1 on the scoreboard and CJH is making sure that is happening more than not. And I’m okay with that! We’ve came a long way in the last couple of years and some fans doesn’t remember those feelings!

Probably because they are bandwagon fans and haven't been all in forever like most of us and been through the muck and mud, thick and thin. I am critical of poor play with the best of em and I certainly do my share of bitching. At the end of the day, winning is all that matters. It is a PRIORITY to beat Alabama first and foremost. Florida/Georgia is a close second, but Bama is the top PRIORITY and has been over the long haul of the program. No other team has beaten them as many times as the Vols have.

It is beyond embarrassing to have lost to them 15 seasons in a row. Embarrassing, shameful, laughable and ultimately unacceptable. Heupel has changed this. He just gets it. He isn't a UT guy and I don't know how/why he gets it, he just does. Maybe goes back to his killer instincts he had as a QB at Oklahoma, who had ice in his veins and a killer mentality? I don't know, some guys just get it and have what it takes. He is a serious football coach, I know this much.

You’re absolutely correct… it just blows my mind that we beat Bama and some of us are saying it wasn’t pretty enough lol… unreal..

If I had told you back in July that we would beat Florida and Bama back to back, 98% of this board would have been ecstatic. Until they seen how we won the games.. just take it all in, and enjoy the ride!

Yes. A freshman QB, a lot of new pieces all over the field. They certainly have a lot of growing up and getting better to do, but they are winning even ugly games.......could easily be losing them....

I will never ever complain about beating Bama, ever. Like I said it is top PRIORITY at UT. We finally have an administration and coaching staff that fully understands this.

I thought after Nico got hurt, that turned a light on for him. Still overthrew some deep balls, but they were about one step ahead of the receiver. After that hit, he played a different manner that got the team down the field and put points on the board. The Tide didn't have any answers for the offense after that. I still believe he is gonna be a beast before he leaves Tennessee.

5 years ago, Vols would’ve lost this game by 30+ points. CJH manages a game like an NFL coach to keep us in it when he has to.

When this offense finally clicks, watch out! Vols are coming…fast.

I thought the same thing.

Let us not forget where we were just 4 years ago. I don't know that there is another coach in the country that could have come in and been 4-0 vs Alabama and Florida in Neyland in this time.

The next hump is getting the quality depth, especially in the trenches, to compete with/beat teams on the road and win championships.

That's a meteoric climb since the run of Dooley-Butch-Pruitt.

Side note: seeing the Basevols on the field and the other VFLs in attendance, I was reminded just exactly how elite our University is standing right now in the college athletics world. Now let's get a Final Four for Barnes and a football playoff run.

Thank you Coach Heup, and thank you Danny White

Those who prefer, yes, PREFER to bemoan every errant throw Nic makes, here's a shocking reality. There are no perfect QBs. The best of the best will have many a play they wish they could have back and try again. Doesn't matter it they are the Volgod Peyton himself, Brady, Mahomes even Otto Graham or Bradshaw. Maybe the Heup should bench Nico and put one of you whiners out there. We won the freaking game, people!!

Then take him out. I don’t get it. I was watching the game on mute listening to Basilio. Why did he do that?

They both looked like true freshmen making their first start. Trying to get a spark maybe? Looked liked Gaston Moore for us lol. Neither looked good.

It comes from people who are easily influenced. The same ones screaming "we're going undefeated" and "Nico winning Heisman" after a few easy wins to open the season are the ones screaming "fire Heupel/nico needs to be benched" once we start playing peer level competition and better.

I assume they're mostly really young fans. It's kinda funny but still quite annoying. Like this is their first season to watch college football.

Nico will be fine, I'm very high on him. But I didn't expect him to be the best qb in volunteer history this season either, he's a RS freshman lol.

And that decision could prove to be disastrous in the long run. It could split the locker room.

Oh I agree. But many of our own fans, beg for the backup lol. Just thought it was funny.

Our fans are begging for the backup. One pass. One INT. Nico is the starter for a reason..

If only I could give this post two likes! Perhaps even more astounding is how he has grown and evolved as a coach in this league, going from winning shootout games to grind it out old school SEC slugfest.

It was the spark that is for sure. Something changed in the entire attitude of the team at that point.
