Full disclosure. I am a diehard Pitt fan who came down to Knoxville last year for the Pitt-UT game. We had so much fun that we decided last year to attend a Tennessee game this year during Pitt bye week. That just happened to be this weekend. Six of us made the trip and it was epic and exceeded expectations.

I have communicated with a few of you on this site the last two months. You gave us suggestions on where to stay, invited us to tailgates and we’re just kind and generous. We hung out with several Vols fans at our hotel (Knoxville Hilton) and Clancy’s most of the weekend. We made several new friends.

I am so happy for your fan base that you won that game. We were on the field afterwards and the true joy I witnessed was something I will never forget. I have been to Super Bowls, Stanley Cup finals, final 4’s and lots of college football venues. I don’t think I have ever experienced that kind of atmosphere I saw this weekend. So thanks so much for your kindness and good luck the rest of the way. You have a great and exciting team. While my heart will always be with Pitt, I have developed a true appreciation for Vol nation and I will be returning as long as I am upright.
Classy and heartfelt. Welcome to the Vol Nation

Once again, that’s freaking awesome! Believe it or not, I thought about how you felt about it yesterday. Glad you posted this!

Just fishing for likes. I see how you are.

I’m just playing. I’m glad you had a great time!

Johnny Majors cemented my lifetime commitment to Pitt football with the national championship in 1976. I was heartbroken when he left for UT but that started my interest in Vols football from afar. Coming down last year for the John Majors classic was a can’t miss for me. He was one of nicest men I have ever met.

Hi Fitz, while obviously you’ve gotten a lotta likes from your post (we’ve been hungry to beat Bama), just want to thank you for reminding our fan base about how Johnny sparked your passion for CFB (as I’m a bit older now, still amazed he left your program to arguably rebuild program back home). I went to Major’s classic last year and spoke with many Pitt fans at Neyland (nice folks)… was disappointed in outcome, but enjoyed being at Rocky Top as always - wish I could have made it to Pitt this year. All the best to Panthers this season and moving forward. Cheers!
