And...

I still fail to see how this is somehow a "black" issue. It still has more to do with opportunities afforded to those in the African American community than anything else.

I didn't say it was a black issue. I just made the observation. Opportunities afforded? Why font you explain that ?

Most of these cities' residents do not make as much money as their counterparts in other towns do. These towns also have higher poverty rates than the national average.

They are all run by democrats. That's the 100% correlation.

It's not a coincidence.

I agree with the Arkansas State Senator.

That is not to say that slavery was right. However, the decedents of slaves are much better off due their ancestors being sold to this country instead of another country. I am not even sure how that is even debatable.

Then again, virtually everyone can trace a story similar to this in their family. Their immigrant ancestors suffered some sort of hardship which drove them towards the US. Although they did not endure whatever drove their ancestors here, they are certainly reaping the benefits.

How do u explain the fact that MOST of the NFL players that get in trouble with the law are Black...they have jobs and lot of money!

Has nothing to do with being poor

PS, India. By your standards people from India would have had to use the colored rest rooms, so there you go.

This is not all that he said, though. I will repost the exact same quote this thread began with:
the institution of slavery that the black race has long believed to be an abomination upon its people may actually have been a blessing in disguise. The blacks who could endure those conditions and circumstances would someday be rewarded with citizenship in the greatest nation ever established upon the face of the Earth.
====
[African Americans must] understand that even while in the throes of slavery, their lives as Americans are likely much better than they ever would have enjoyed living in sub-Saharan Africa.

1. Regardless of the consequences three hundred years later, the institution of slavery was an abomination.

2. "The blacks who could endure those conditions and circumstances would someday be rewarded with citizenship". First, not every "black" that endured the conditions was rewarded with citizenship; in fact, the vast majority were not. Second, would you say that you were blessed if you were forced to endure chattel slavery x number of years in return for citizenship in America? How about citizenship in the reconstruction era in the South? Third, why not just say that the Holocaust was a blessing for the Jews? Those that could endure the concentration camps were then given a country in Zion...

3. "Even while in the throes of slavery..." Do you honestly believe that life as a slave in America was better than life would have been in sub-Saharan Africa?

I've never been in the politics forum, after reading this thread I know why.
Anyone trying to justify or rationalize slavery as an improvement for people's lives should be forced to have a lobotomy. it would be an improvement in your offsprings lives not to have a bigot progenitor.

Somebody tell me why the deep south has lower test scores, higher drop out rates, higher unwed pregnancies, and higher infant mortalities even in white communities? I mean we are in the bible belt and presumably this region should have seen the greatest "generational benefits" (as you idiots describe it) from slavery.

Anyone

Oh I'm sorry go back to being a bigot and beating your women.

The rise of countries and economies typically follows the path of cheap labor. The cheapest of labor is that which is forceably taken. We despise what the Chinese and Indians do with their children and rue that China is flush with cash that we must borrow. We tout our country as the greatest due to the freedoms it affords it's citizens while forgetting that it was largely built on the backs of slaves, and indentured workers.

If we offered to steal your children and rape your women but offered to provide their offspring "better jobs and opportunities" I'm sure all of you to a man would be disgusted yet that is what you press forward with here in these ideals and discussions.

I was glad to see you and Kat in here showing why the zone has the brightest minds in VN, regardless of thread topics we choose to discuss.

That justifying slavery should be an abomination if one truly believes that the greatest reason we are a super power is that we afford liberty and freedom to all our citizens. Respect for the fact that in some ways we were able to achieve all of this through means by which any Christian should be ashamed.

We can go down this path if you'd like.

Maybe you misunderstood I was sincere about you and Kat and I think we agree although I may have missed something.

Poverty is ugly and it is poverty and greed that drive institutions like slavery and the other degenerstions we do or should deplore.

Somebody tell me why the deep south has, higher drop out rates,.

California has the most dropouts of any state!!!

And Washington DC has the lowest graduation rate, at 56 percent.

So the worst of the worst is not in the south

I didn't read anywhere in this thread about this.
